Obama says Senate's delay in health care bill 'OK'
Source: Associated Press

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio – President Barack Obama stepped up his us-against-them pitch for overhauling health care Thursday, saying the American people need it and must overcome resistance from opponents in Washington, whom he described vaguely as naysayers and skeptics.

"Reform may be coming too soon for some in Washington," Obama told hundreds who packed a high school gym in the Shaker Heights suburb of Cleveland. "But it's not soon enough for the American people."

The president took a few swipes at Republican critics. But his biggest obstacles are fellow Democrats who control the House and Senate and are moving slowly on his call for widespread changes to U.S. health care.

Senate leaders said Thursday they could not meet Obama's deadline for a vote before the August recess. And a key House committee is struggling to placate moderate Democrats worried about the plan's costs.

4. The incredible cost of the seven year wars doesn't seem to bother them.
War instead of health care for all.

5. The cost of single-payer health care is like a drop in the bucket in comparison to the cost of all
these wars.

6. There never was a problem in writing a blank check for the wars.
Never a problem as to where that money would come from.

10. If the vote is indeed dead at this point, he really can't react otherwise.

It would do no good for him to pitch a fit. Now, it looks like a tactical retreat is in order. He can marshal his forces, and start again in the fall. We may have to get health care reform piecemeal, but cannot give up. Personally, I think tort reform would be a good place to start, to help lower costs.

11. For profit "health" insurance is the immoral, illogical, dysfunctional institution destroying
health care in the United States, every dollar profit they make comes at the expense of an American actually receiving health care.

The whole concept of profiting from the American People's illness and injury, while contributing nothing to health care is ludicrious and you would reward them by giving them even more, making the insurance corporations less liable, further disenfranchising the American People from seeking financial restitution?

For profit "health" insurance corporations are a macro pull on health care dollars, tort reform by comparison is a micro pull, furthermore the former empowers the corporations and speculators; willing to gamble on the American Peoples' health for a buck, the second empowers the People; when they've been grieved.

The government should be covering every American's health care from the cradle to the grave and for profit health insurance should be illegal. That would be not only a just and, moral policy embraced by an enlightened society but the most logical in national economic terms as well.
