Indian school for rogue monkeys

Wildlife officials in India plan to build a special school to improve the behaviour of delinquent monkeys.

Officials say monkeys are a growing menace in Punjab as the animals move into towns and cities looking for food.

The state government has asked India's Central Zoo Authority for funds to build the country's first monkey rescue and rehabilitation centre.

4. It's no joke in India
My wife and I lived there from 2006 until earlier this year, and the monkeys were a serious hazard where we lived. In addition to peeing and pooping everywhere, sometimes they'd break into apartments and trash them. At times, it was dangerous to be carrying food of any kind, because they'd attach -- and the alpha males were as big as a small human and twice as strong.

Part of the trouble is many of the large packs have gotten so used to living next to humans, they've forgotten how to forage in places other than garbage tips and people's houses.
