11 new outposts planned during Mitchell visit
July 26, 2009

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Right-wing organizations are planning to set up 11 new West Bank outposts in two days.

The groups, led by the Land of Faithful movement, have called on right-wing activists to found the outposts on Monday and Tuesday while U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell is visiting Israel.

The number 11 is a reference to the 11 Negev settlements set up in one night in 1946 during the British Mandate.

"Only the establishment of settlements will put the State of Israel back on the track of independence and growth, and will create national resilience in the face of international pressure," reads a pamphlet distributed by the organizations.

1. What The Hell is Wrong With These People?
Why do they love war? It boggles the mind.

I guess "crazy" is the universal language of religious fundamentalism.

2. I spent $35.00 on some Palestinian olives and oil at the Iran demonstration
Edited on Sun Jul-26-09 09:55 PM by NBachers
in San Francisco yesterday. It's free trade olives and olive oil, part of a project to rehabilitate the lands destroyed in Palestine by the Israelis.

I respect Israel's right to exist. Both my kids come from mothers of Jewish heritage. But I can't abide the wars, destruction, refugees, farm-killing, and settlements. It's the wrong way to go.

Learn about this organization, Canaan Fair Trade, here: http://www.canaanfairtrade.com

"Based in Jenin, Palestine, Canaan Fair Trade sells olive oil and other delicacies produced by over 1,700 small farmers organized in informal cooperatives and represented by the Palestine Fair Trade Association (PFTA)."

The olives and oil, by the way, are exquisite. I saturated my pasta tonight with the oil, and I've got an open jar of the olives right here by the computer. I literally crave this stuff.

4. They've been at it since Moses took 'em to the promisec land...
Both sides fighting over the land of milk and honey...

Why does anyone anywhere think they can stop it?

I say just let them have at it and not put the rest of the world in turnoil just because an ancient 'holy" book says this is sacred land...
