CIA 'put pressure on Britain to cover up its use of torture'

'Sensitive information': The treatment of Binyam Mohamed is at the centre of a security row

The CIA has been secretly pressuring the British Government to help it cover up its use of torture, documents filed in the High Court have revealed.

The documents, to be discussed at a hearing this week, suggest that the UK authorities did everything they could to accede to the CIA's wishes while at the same time trying to conceal the fact they were talking to the agency.

It is the latest twist in the saga of Binyam Mohamed, 30, the Ethiopian UK resident released from Guantanamo Bay in February after seven years in US captivity.

In an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday earlier this year, he told how he was captured in Pakistan, interrogated by the CIA, tortured, then sent to Morocco for further 'medieval' torture on a CIA 'extraordinary rendition' flight.

1. Western media make falsehood credible
Western media make falsehood credible.! Dr. Abdul Ruff Colachal

It is a known fact that Western media make falsehood credible! Many sponsors of blog portals promote state terrorism and set their reader response section to promote this nasty trend. That is anti-democratic, anti-human and anti-credibility!

It is a known fact that Western media make falsehood credible! Many sponsors of blog portals promote state terrorism and set their reader response section to promote this nasty trend. That is anti-democratic, anti-human and anti-credibility! The situation has to change to enable the global citizens to think properly and not according to the feeds of the western strategists. It is atrocious ot see how cleverly these media have succeed in branding Islam as a terrorist religion. And the UN UNSC are enjoying the onslaught on Muslims...
USA behaves in a mysteriously mischievous manner globally and what its terror bound Pentagon-CIA is doing is never getting exposed and revealed to the world while democracy should indeed promote that. Their secret torture cells around the world with outside help are not fully reveled yet. The Pentagon-CIA try to cover up illegal torture. It is the latest twist in the saga of Binyam Mohamed, 30, the Ethiopian UK resident released from Guantanamo Bay in February after seven years in US captivity. In an exclusive interview with The Mail earlier this year, he told how he was captured in Pakistan, interrogated by the CIA, tortured, then sent to Morocco for further 'medieval' torture on a CIA 'extraordinary rendition' flight. He is till being tortured by CIA agents. India tortures innocent, but bad guys which its terror bound indigence brands as terrorists. Indian agencies catch criminals among Muslims ad charge-sheet them as terrorists in Mumbai or any other state terror events

It is yet become a known fact that the Pentagon-CIA controls the world today, including Russia and China. Any nation refusing to abide by Pentagon-CIA dictates would be doing so at their own perils and destructions. The Pentagon-CIA having taken the UK for granted, has been secretly pressuring the British Government to help it cover up its use of torture at Guantanamo Bay, documents filed in the High Court have revealed. The documents, to be discussed at a hearing this week, suggest that the UK authorities did everything they could to accede to the CIA's wishes on Muslims who are branded by the GSTs as suspected terrorists for torture while at the same time trying to conceal the fact they were talking to the agency.

3. Obama continuing the bushcheney threat-based coverup
The only piece of evidence Mr Miliband's lawyers have produced is a letter, redacted, unsigned and undated, with its letterhead concealed, which, they say, summarises the views of US President Barack Obama's administration.

It states: 'Public disclosure of the information contained in the seven paragraphs could likely result in serious damage to UK and US national security.

'If it is determined that HMG is unable to protect information we provide to it, even if that inability is caused by your judicial system, we will necessarily have to review with the greatest care the sensitivity of information we can provide in future.'

After an order from the judges, Government lawyers were forced to admit the letter had been sent to an unnamed officer in MI6, and had been written by someone at the CIA.

Well, as long as "someone at the CIA" says so.

4. I favor prosecutions, but that "evidence" is not exactly impressive.

the only thing that seems to prove, IMO, is that someone got hold of a piece of paper.

On the basis of that, I'd say the headline of the article is over the top.

6. Sorry, but this is not some internet rumor.
That part of the story http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2009/02/19/exceptionalism/index.html">is very old (bad) news. This hearing seems to be an attempt to suggest what you have -- that there's some doubt. But Obama has http://www.aclu.org/safefree/torture/38662prs20090204.html">certainly not denied it, regardless of how minced the words.
the Obama administration told the BBC today in a written statement: "The United States thanks the UK government for its continued commitment to protect sensitive national security information and preserve the long-standing intelligence sharing relationship that enables both countries to protect their citizens."

The headline is, as they say over there, spot on.

5. I wonder if there was ever a time when national security actually meant keeping the country safe.
As apposed to hiding the knowledge from the masses, that predators of a dark underworld have taken over their government and are pulling the strings of public opinion for political (read) personal gain. Of course this would have been an impossible task without having control over the fourth estate whose ideological purpose was once about providing citizen oversight of the government? Personally I don’t think this pretend democracy is at all what it is cracked up to be. After all, what benefit is there in reveling over some stiffy inducing song and dance puppet head when national security is still being used to protect those who are screwing us all…
