(MYFOX NATIONAL) - The dust-up over the Gates-Crowley-Obama controversy continues as a Michigan congressman is set to introduce a resolution that would force the president to formally apologize for his "studiply" statement about the Cambridge police.

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) on Friday announced that unless President Obama apologizes "for impugning the professional conduct" of Cambridge, Mass. Police Sergeant James M. Crowley, he would introduce his resolution.

Friday Obama appeared before the press to make conciliatory comments, though not outright apologizing. "I want to make clear that in my choice of words I think I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department or Sergeant Crowley specifically," Obama said, "and I could have calibrated those words differently."

But McCotter seems to be moving forward with the resolution speaking to various media outlets Monday morning. "I view this less as a racial incident than a presidential incident," McCotter told The Washington Times . "What I think is necessary is for the president to apologize to Officer Crowley, retract the statement and let's move forward."

2. The Crown has a procedure for a Royal apology, I'm not aware of any US counterpart.
So fuck this Thaddeus McCotter whom no one (assuming my own universality) has ever heard of prior to this, and whose return to ignoble obscurity is imminent.

5. His other landmark bills include naming a post office after some guy
named Shiven, and something about National Dog Bite Week.

No, I'm not making it up - go to his page.

Apparently McCotter needs to apologize for being noticed....

7. Oh, good God!!!
Does the Congress have nothing more important to do before the August recess? ....Um....like, I dunno, SAVE A FEW MILLION LIVES by making comprehensive health care (as opposed to sick care or no care) available to everyone?

No wonder AT ALL that Republicans can get nothing of substance DONE!!!!

How moronic!

16. honest question
Apparently (as stated by the officer), the officer asked Professor Gates to step outside. Why??? That seems very strange. Step outside suggests a physical confrontation. It was dark outside. Many Blacks have been hurt is situations like that. I think the officer was not as alert to the issues as he was thought to have been. In fact, I suggest the officer acted stupidly. Oh yeh, that's what President Obama said.

24. I'm pretty sure it was a rouse.
Once he got him outside everything changes. Now he can be arrested for disorderly.

It is probably normal there that if a someone is giving you a hard time inside to try to move them outside. It is probably also true that if there is somebody giving the cops a hard time inside and the cops don't put a stop to it, they will be called back later when said trouble maker goes outside and starts trouble with the neighbors or what ever.

I really do think everybody just over reacted on this one. Gates, Crawley, and Obama. But Obama is going to be remembered for it.

23. I think Thaddeus better hold off on that resolution
From the latest reports, it looks like the cop lied, on several counts.

Obama might want to dis-invite him for that beer after all the facts come out.

Someone needs to update this Republican moron on this developing story before he makes a fool of himself, and of Congress (not that that's hard to do).
