Source: BBC News

Iran's Supreme Leader has ordered the closure of a detention centre where protesters against the recent election result are said to have been held.

Reports say that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei closed the centre at Kahrizak because it was failing to preserve the rights of detainees.

Iran's parliament is investigating the issue of he detentions.

2. Not quite. Their detention centers would be = if the US shipped Americans to Gitmo
for protesting the bush administration.

3. A distinction without a difference. Holding people for years without charge is an unqualified
embarrassment, and Iran can at least claim it closed its "detention center."
