Fox Decides Not to Air 'Family Guy' Abortion Episode
Source: AOL Television

Fox says it will not air an upcoming 'Family Guy' episode that deals with abortion, the Live Feed reports.

The network announced its decision in a statement released earlier this afternoon, adding that Fox executives "fully support the producers' right to make the episode and distribute it in whatever way they want."

8. that show sorta bugs me
I dont like that show, not because of the content, but it markets some pretty adult themes to kids because its a cartoon.
I dont let my kids watch it, I know I will get trounced for saying this but I think its like using slick joe camel ads to get kids interested in smoking!!! I see the humor in the show, I just think it targets kids who are not quite ready for it yet!

There's a reason it runs at 9PM. It's adult-oriented animation.

24. No its not ...problem as I see it is people do not seem to realize it.

Its funny as hell and I love the show but...

In our local blockbuster it all over the kids/family section... wtf?

I walked out of a psych doctors office one day to see a bunch of kids watching it in the waiting room... kids being treated for bipolar and such. (Told the person I was escorting to mention it to the doctor.)

They push the limits on that show ..should be a disclaimer at the beginning "not for kids"

44. And its title "Family Guy" ..not to mention the catchy theme song..

"where are those good old fashion values.. on which we used to rely?"

I can see why it slips through the cracks of adult censoring... South Park does as well.

My problem is when they kill a cat .. or Stewie machine guns his mom. If it shocks me what does it do to the mind of a child?

But I do not even have kids... so what do I know?

10. It depends on the age of your children...
my two kids are 13 (boys) and I let them watch it only if I am there so that I can discuss any issues that are brought up in the episode we are watching. I must say, on occasion, there are some interesting discussions after some of the episodes! I have come to the conclusion that they are going to see it anyway and I might as well be involved with their education on all matters, be it sexual, violence, or any other topic brought up in the program.

It's OK also for you to choose not to let your kids watch it.

You have a point, but Family Guy isn't U-rated viewing, it's definitely 12A rated.

15. It isn't targeting kids.
Seth MacFarlane has gone out of his way to say that the show is NOT meant for kids and encourages parents of young children NOT to let them watch it. In fact, one episode of Family Guy ended with him taking parents who don't do their job monitoring what their kids watch to task...

43. 'Boys Do Cry'.
Took me a bit to find the script and episode. It's on the Volume 6 DVD set.

Here is the quote...

LOIS: You know, I wanted us to live in a place with real family values. But values don't come from where you live or who your friends are. They come from inside, from your own beliefs.

PETER: I agree, Lois. Like, for instance, if you're watching a TV show and you decide to take your values from that, you're an idiot. Maybe you should take responsibility for what values your kids are getting. Maybe you shouldn't be letting your kids watch certain shows in the first place if you have such a big problem with them, instead of blaming the shows themselves. (looking to camera) Yeah.

46. To say nothing of doing parodies of Gilbert and Sullivan!
Stewie did his own version of "I Have A Little List" in one episode.

As someday it may happen that a victim must be found,
I've got a little list, I've got a little list.
Of society offenders who might well be underground,
And who never would be missed, who never would be missed.

There's the white kid with the baggy clothes who's talking like he's black,
The girl you date who doesn't get the jokes in Caddyshack.
The Asian guy who cuts in front of every single line,
And Britney Spears for accidentally showing her va-gine.
And Bill 'O Reilly's ineffective dermatologist,
May none of them be missed, may none of them be missed!

He's got them on the list,
He's got them on the list.
And may none of them be missed,
May none of them be missed.

There's the guy behind the news reporter waving like a fool,
And senator Bill Frist, I've got him on the list.
And the fat kid smiling warmly while he's peeing in the pool,
He never would be missed, he never would be missed!
There's the foul smelling boy who comes to school in camouflage,
And every bleeding member of the cast of Entourage.
And while we are on the subject, HBO deserves a whack,
For ending the Sopranos with a f***ing cut to black.
And guys who when you shake their hand just bump you with their fist,
I don't think they'd be missed, I'm sure they'd not be missed!

He's got them on the list,
He's got them on the list,
And may none of them be missed.
May none of them be missed.

There's the guy who sits beside you and keeps farting on the plane,
And Shakira's lyricist, I've got him on the list.
And the smarty on Thanksgiving who says "It's the tryptophan!"
He never would be missed, he never would be missed!
There's the blonde who tells you loudly with a voice just like a knife,
"You know someone should do a sitcom based around my life!"
The guy who watched The Simpsons back in 1994,
And wont admit the damn thing isn't funny anymore.
And a-ny-one and everyone who's ever... made me... pissed!

18. The thing about Famil Giuy is that...
Many of it episodes make fun of many of the principles that founded DU and to an extent the Democratic Party. Like for example the episode where Peter decides to run against Lois for School Board President. He basically makes fun of women rights, makes a commercial that calls his wife a "Slut" and the show really makes no effort to show that it's wrong to do this kind of stuff and at the end of the show you basically feel dirty. Yet the show for some reason is very popular with many leftist. I will admit that I am fan of "Stewie" as of course my avatar is "Stewie" But even I have to admit the undertones can be a litle over the top sometimes.

22. That's the thing though. Peter never gets told off
Lois pretty much takes it. The only one who ever kinda puts Peter in his spot is Brian. And even with Brian it's always an afterthought by that point. I think that some people watch that show and find it funny when Peter does some of the things he does, which is fine I am all for creative licensing; and as I said earlier love the character "Stewie", but sometimes I feel that some people walk away thinking it is still okay to call a woman a bitch, slut, etc and laugh about it.

I am a complicated person.

For those who don't know, South Park had an episode where Fox was under pressure to pull an episode of "Family Guy" for showing Muhammed. The whole point of the episode was to point out the hypocrisy of censorship. When South Park predicts the future, I'm about ready to take a header off a cliff.
