US troops killed in deadliest month of Afghan war
Fri Jul 31, 2009 10:29am EDT

By Paul Tait

KABUL, July 31 (Reuters) - Two U.S. troops were killed as the deadliest month for foreign forces of the Afghanistan war drew to a close, the military said on Friday, with commanders vowing to continue the fight despite the toll.

The deaths in southern Afghanistan brought to 41 the number of U.S. troops killed in July, by far the heaviest monthly toll in the eight-year-old war. The worst previous month for U.S. forces was in September 2008, when 26 were killed.

The latest deaths occurred in a firefight with insurgents in southern Afghanistan on Thursday, the U.S. military said, without giving further details. At least 71 foreign troops have been killed in July.

1. My friend's nephew was killed there this month. Left a wife and two small children.
When will it end?

3. Now up to 75 Western troops killed this month...and the day isn't over.
August will probably be even worse. It seems like Obama's surge was like putting out fires with gasoline.

4. What the fuck are they doing there? What the fuck are they doing in Iraq?
Edited on Fri Jul-31-09 01:13 PM by GreenTea
They aren't wanted in either place...there's no end in sight, they can't win...those wars are made to drain our economy (which they have helped to do) while tens of thousands of innocent civilians and our American soldiers are dying & being maimed for corporate profits by way of our taxes!

STOP THE WARS!

9. How many more must die in Iraq?
Have we given up on getting our troops out of Iraq? It seems like nobody wants to
even try anymore? Where are all the protests and daily calls to extract ourselves?
