PoliticoIt’s the worst-kept secret in Pennsylvania, but Congressman Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) is finally announcing that he’s challenging Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) in next year’s Democratic primary.
He will be making the official announcement tomorrow morning at a VFW hall in his suburban Philadelphia home district, according to a Sestak campaign operative. Sestak will then be heading across the Keystone State to Pittsburgh, Scranton and Harrisburg before finishing the day with an appearance on the “Colbert Report.”
The announcement comes as little surprise. Sestak already had been barnstorming the state in preparation for the campaign, and had engaged in tit-for-tat attacks against Specter over the last month.
