Sestak (finally) to kick off Senate campaign (PA)
Source: Politico

It’s the worst-kept secret in Pennsylvania, but Congressman Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) is finally announcing that he’s challenging Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) in next year’s Democratic primary.

He will be making the official announcement tomorrow morning at a VFW hall in his suburban Philadelphia home district, according to a Sestak campaign operative. Sestak will then be heading across the Keystone State to Pittsburgh, Scranton and Harrisburg before finishing the day with an appearance on the “Colbert Report.”

The announcement comes as little surprise. Sestak already had been barnstorming the state in preparation for the campaign, and had engaged in tit-for-tat attacks against Specter over the last month.

1. go baby go!!!

He's got the right plan - run as a real Democrat! Specter is going to run as a fair-weather populist.

2. But just as what happened during last year's election
one must be reminded that Philadelphia cannot be summarily dismissed. Sestak is going to have to win over the hearts of Philadelphians and he has not had much presence here at all... and it doesn't seem like his schedule is accommodating this city.

I have never pulled any lever for Specter the entire time that he has been a Senator here, but he always got in thanks to the Philadelphia vote. They wouldn't even give it to Lynn Yeakel, who had the best chance to beat him almost 20 years ago.
