Fairview Park black family finds noose, hate note in their yard

FAIRVIEW PARK — A black family reported finding a rope twisted into a noose in their front yard Sunday, along with a note demanding they leave the city.

Fredrick Howery said his two children were in the front yard of their home in the 3900 block of West 223rd Street when they came across the rope and a note that told the family to "get the (expletive) out of Fairview Park." It was signed, "Aryan Knights of Fairview Park." The rope was 3-feet long.

Neighbors were stunned, calling the incident appalling in an integrated neighborhood. Police suspect it is an isolated incident.

"It's disconcerting, especially with my children playing in the front yard," Howery said Monday. "It is something that has to be addressed by the community. We're not the only black family in this neighborhood."

NPR had a long piece on how the white supremecist movement was excited about Obama getting into the whitehouse because it would stir millions of white people to recognize their true feelings of racism and start associating with the Aryan Nation, etc. in greater numbers.

Not only might it discourage more threats but it might also help reveal who are the culprits. I know I'd stand against this sort of shit, physically if necessary.

a Jewish family had something hateful done to their home. Everybody in the neighborhood put menorahs in their windows.

which has a 25% black pop. spray painted nooses and KKK signage on the sides of buildings. ugly stuff. luckily the pastors all over town got together and decried it, and spoke eloquently of tolerance to everyone. took the wind out of the hatred very well. these things happen all over the US often, I think.

12. The police chief is lying according to a local TV station

Police Chief Patrick Nealon said he has been with the department for 32 years, and he cannot remember a similar incident.

According to a local TV report, this is not the first incident in the neighborhood against a black family.

Makes me wonder how many members of the Cleveland police department belong to the Aryan Knights.

And the local TV stations are notorious for hyperbole, I would hesitate before you jump to conclusions.

Not to say that the Cleveland police are entirely honorable...
