White (D-Ne) to announce for Congress

By Robynn Tysver

Democratic state Sen. Tom White will officially announce his campaign for Congress on Wednesday . White's announcement comes nearly two months after he said he was interested in running against Republican U.S. Rep. Lee Terry.

“No matter which party controls Congress, Nebraskans I've talked to feel the needs of ordinary Americans aren't being met," White said.

White has made it clear that he will try to run as a moderate Democrat, who is interested in job creation and "restoring fiscal responsibility" in Washington.

An Omaha attorney, White was elected to the Legislature in 2006. He comes to the race with a lot of support from Democrats, who believe he has the credentials to give the veteran Terry a run for his seat.

This guy is the real deal. He is a sitting State Senator & a civil rights lawyer. I have already kicked in funds to him.

3. He's running against Terry, so Nelson is still untouched.
I just feel we'd have two Ben Nelson's if he won. Not sure it even matters. Nebraska is a lost cause. I say this as a Nebraskan. This state is a LONG way from really helping contribute to a Progressive country even if Omaha and Lincoln voted Obama. Sorry.

2. He may run for Congress as a Democrat, but . . .

"Democratic state Sen. Tom White" is an error. The Nebraska state legislature is non-partisan.
