Card says he is considering run for Kennedy's seat

By STEVE LEBLANC (AP) – 5 hours ago

NEWTON, Mass. — Former Bush White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card said Wednesday he is "thinking very seriously" about launching a campaign for the Senate seat left vacant by the death of Sen. Edward Kennedy."I would like very much to run for the U.S. Senate," said the longtime Republican stalwart, who said he won't make a final decision until he can discuss it further with his wife.

Card's years serving in the White House under former President George W. Bush could prove to be a dicey political hurdle in heavily Democratic Massachusetts.

Card said his stint in the White House would both help and hurt him with Massachusetts voters if he decided to run. But he defended his time in Washington, saying that while he didn't always agree with Bush, he respected the way he made decisions and was proud to serve his country.

- snip -

At the same time, Card tried to distance himself a little from Bush, saying he should not be tied to every decision Bush made while president.

10. Exactly
By all means, Card should run. Waste a crapload of time and GOPer money on a campaign that we already know will lose.

11. Card tried to distance himself a little from Bush, saying he should not be tied to every decision Bu
After all, he only supported 99.9999999% of everything Bush did.

It's not like he marched lockstep

17. Wingnut objected to my use of "houseboy" regarding Clarence THOMAS, GONZALEZ, POWELL, RICE
He asked whether race was all it was about.

I said that, no, other houseboys are Harriet MIERS, Porter GOSS, Andy CARD, and other such.

20. I want to know exactly what he whispered into bu$h's ear
at approximately 9:07 a.m. on September 11, 2001, in front of a bunch of second graders having a reading lesson in a classroom in Florida. A two-second message, with no waiting for a reply.

21. Especially since Bush said he somehow saw the 1st plane hit the tower before he went into the room
Very odd considering that the first hit was not aired live (obviously) and the 2nd one didn't happen for a little bit afterwards.
