Poll: Rep. Wilson in dead heat with challenger
Source: USA Today

Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., is now in a dead heat with Democratic challenger Rob Miller after shouting "You lie!" during President Obama's health care speech Wednesday night, a new survey from Public Policy Polling shows. Wilson beat Miller 54-46 in 2008.

Wilson now has the backing of 43% of voters in his congressional district; Miller is supported by 44%. That's within the survey's margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.

"In a matter of seconds Joe Wilson turned himself from a safe incumbent into one of the most vulnerable Republicans in the country for 2010," Dean Debnam, Public Policy Polling's president, said in a statement.

Sixty-two percent of voters in the district said they disapproved of Wilson's outburst, while 29% approved. They were less sure of the veracity of President Obama's statement that prompted Wilson's outcry -- that the massive health care plan would not insure illegal immigrants.

3. Great news!!!
What's up with that jerk talking about not being "muzzled"? Saw his news conference....amazing how he can turn around his inappropriate behavior into a 'heroic' type claim that he won't be muzzled from speaking out on healthcare. God these people have elephant size balls to go along with their pea sized brains.

11. "Elephant size balls"
Ok, I had to Google that up, and came up with 4.4 lbs. apiece, size of a canteloupe.

I hate you for making me feel compelled to look that up! :spank: :P

5. Yeah but
AP says Wilson has raised $700,000 so far and his opponent Rob Miller only $125,000 more. Support Miller at ActBlue--get it up from $825,000 to a million. How great to be able to say Democrats raised a million for Miller 48 hours after he yelled at the President.

6. Election still a long way off
so good that he's getting all this money now. That will give him the means to get his message out.

I try not to be a vengeful person, but this is one of the greatest examples of retribution I've ever seen.

7. I live here....
Thankfully, he is not my representative. I can tell you that he represents a VERY conservative
district, many of the constituents think that he is a "hero" for saying what he did.

10. I have never been there, but it seems that the right winger will always win in that district,
no matter how much money the Democrat has. I say this just from reading about it. Hope I'm wrong.

12. Many Republicans in that district run unopposed....

As Democrats feel that they have no chance of winning. I think that the chances of Wilson losing, is virtually none. If nothing else, he may get even more votes. Sad.

8. WTF is wrong with S. Carolina?
Graham, Wilson and Sanford, all douchebags, yet they turn down Stephen Colbert because he would make South Carolina politics into a joke?

You have got to be shitting me!

9. Don't forget Preston Books, caning Sen. Charles Sumner before the Civil War.
At one point, I thought about retirement in the winters to South Carolina. No way now. They are as nuts as Alabama and Oklahoma in their elected representatives - make that more.
