Fey an Emmy winner for Palin mimicry? You betcha
Source: Associated Press

Is Tina Fey an Emmy winner? You betcha. Fey received an Emmy Award on Saturday for her impersonation of Republican vice presidential contender Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live."

Accepting her trophy for best guest actress in a comedy, Fey thanked "SNL" producer Lorne Michaels and her parents, "who are lifelong Republicans, for their patience."

She was honored at the Creative Arts Primetime Emmys, which recognize technical and other achievements for the 2008-09 season and preceded next weekend's main ceremony. Fey has the chance for more awards: She could repeat last year's win as best actress in a comedy series for "30 Rock," and the show also could again claim top comedy honors.

5. Wait for the obligatory outrage...
from Sarah and whatever Repos are still behind her.

I'm sure we'll soon find out what a commie liberal cadre the Emmys are,
just like all those other Hollywood institutions.

Or have we been told that one already?

6. It's called TALENT
Edited on Sun Sep-13-09 12:48 AM by rocktivity
Sure, Fey resembles Palin (right down to flute playing), but that was icing on the cake. The cake was that Fey had the artistic instinct to zero in on exactly what makes Palin so improbable (right down to quoting her verbatim). Similarly, Will Ferrell resembles a taller version of George Bush, but had he failed at exploiting Bush's arrested development, his imitations wouldn't have worked. And then there's Frank Caliendo: he doesn't resemble George Bush in the least, but lampooned him even more effectively than Ferrell did. Congrats, Tina--cue the Vonage theme!

:woohoo:

8. Tina deserves her award for SP impression
She's a genius and an incredibly smart person. I really love Tina Fey.

As the GWB impressions go, I think Will Ferrell does a okay one. Frank Caliendo, however, does a spot on impression--the voice, the nervous tick grins. Yeah, he is larger than Yuk Yuk, but Caliendo still rocks it.

13. Just came back from there. Her most hilarious line in the acceptance was
...that we had to respect "Mrs. Palin" for doing what working moms everywhere fantasized about doing: "bailing from their jobs right before 4th of July weekend!"

Fey said she wished she coulda done the same!

Will you be going to the next one in a week?
And did the Guy from Disney trip or do that somersault onto the stage on purpose?
