Wilson: 'Not going to apologize again'

Wilson: 'Not going to apologize again'

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) said Sunday that he does not plan a second apology to the White House for his "liar" outburst, meaning that House Democratic leaders plan to pursue a resolution of disapproval this week.

"I am not going to apologize again," Wilson told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."

"I apologized to the president on Wednesday night. ... I believe that is sufficient."

A House Democratic aide said the resolution would likely come Tuesday at the earliest. "It's not about apologizing 'again,'" the aide said. "The House must address the breach of decorum. Silence is consent. An apology would be one way to address it. A resolution is another way."

24. Even if it's done quickly
it means that his outburst and the content of what he says are leading the news for that day. It makes him the first martyr of the Obama Administration/Democratic Congress. It guarantees him a place on next Sunday's talking head shows.

And it gives him a chance to raise another million.

If I were going to do it I would do it first thing Monday morning. Plenty of time for other things to happen that could crowd him out of the Sunday shows.

5. Wilson insulted and offended TWO entities:
1. The office of the President of the U.S. He gave a "sort of" apology in regard to this. I do not think it was sincere, but I am not going to debate the issue.

2. The Congress of the United States. He broke the decorum and rules of that body and he owes them an apology. If he refuses they should absolutely take action against him which is deemed appropriate by the memembers. Apparently he has refused ~~ so Congress needs to call him on the carpet for his disrespect to them.

6. It's not an apology if you use it as an opportunity
to beg for money. He basically said, oops, but I was right and send me cash. Very contrite indeed. At least, let's send him a dictionary in which he can find the word "decorum".

7. It was fun.....

watching that racist jerk squirm like the rat he is. The funny part of the interview is when he was asked was he a racist. His quote "Well my family live beside the Obama's or something to that effect" Shewwww! For a minute there I thought was he gonna say "My best friend is black people". Knowing he's a disciple of a racist segregationist liar in Strom Thurmond, we know he lying. Censure that racist jerk so the whole can see, this how we deal with radical bigots from South Carolina, who disrespect the President of the United States.

22. You know what?
I would have loved one of our democrats had they gotten up and called Bush a liar. Of course, then, it would have been the truth. But I don't think we would have been concerned about the respect for the Presidency in that case.

37. So many layers of irony, that in fact Bush was in fact not elected anyway.
Edited on Sun Sep-13-09 02:35 PM by windoe
He actually was not legitimate, and lied and destroyed everything in his path. But naturally President Obama is positioned to take the rap, as so many Black people before. He is their scapegoat for Bush's mistakes, and I really hate typing that, but it seems to be the unconscious motivation here.

I had to change some text, it didn't feel right.

11. This is all the plan
He outbursted twice, cuz, the first outburst was eclipsed by some sound. His cat ate the birdie smug look after, confirms it. He immediately apologized with a twinkie defense. Then, he indignantly refuses to further apologize. Saying it to anyone who will quote him. To further catapult the propaganda. This is so transparent, it is nude. He was a nobody, and now, he is mr. fifeteen minutemen. That is why they used Spector to call for his centure. A reasonable distance from dems.

The right wants any filthy utterance attached to Obama. They feel that if they inflict just the right insult, he will run home, crying, and leave open the seat of power, to the rightful owner, a republican.

In the old days, they would whip him, to drive home the point.

25. Unfortunately for him, that lowest part is not the part his party should be
courting. Very far from it.

But, then, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. He behaved in a way that accorded perfectly with his character and mindset, and it is the reason why his party are no longer even a scrawny rump of the Republican party, but a splinter group. And they are likely to remain so in perpetuity - will certainly remain so, unless and until the Republican party can return politicians who know how to lie and dissimulate and "sweet-talk", which was always their strongest suit, since it is indispensible for them.

To vote for the right-wing is tantamount to suicide for the general public. (And when the left becomes too powerful, it's politicians become right-wingers, like NuLab in the UK, but right now you really need a left-wing party, i.e. at least, quasi-democratic, Democratic party).

12. How 'bout an apology to the United States citizens, then. Your sincerity comes into question when,
Edited on Sun Sep-13-09 10:52 AM by 1monster
immediately after "apologizing" to President Obama, you use this same shameful and deliberate lapse in good breeding, good manners, good citizenship, and courtesy to create a fund raising ad.

President Obama didn't lie, sir. But you seem not to be able to do anything but lie.

How 'bout some truthin' for you. If you cannot sincerely apoligize, then tell us how you really feel. Don't wrap it up in "patriotism" or "concern" about health care and illegal aliens getting a free ride. Tell us the unvarnished Three R's (wRight-winged, Racist, Republican) truth.

A formal censure is called for. The House has to make sure this cannot stand.

By the way, it was racism, pure and simple. Read Maureen Dowd's column in the NY Times today.

27. RePigLickins squeeel about protecting the Constitution
RePigLickins squeeel about protecting the Constitution, but they have no intention respecting it's meaning. Separation of church and state is only one example, another example is ""a well regulated militia"" gets conveniently forgotten every time RePigLickins quote the 2nd Ammendment.

Look at history, Republicanism has been generally unhealthy for the economy, the environment, state of health of Americans, global stability and national security.

Assuming you actually apologized to Obama which, based on your

Or are they going to let Wilson walk away clean while Democrats wimp out yet again. The Democrats have wimped out so many times, I don't expect them to do anything except apologize to Wilson for embarrassing him. And I would expect Pelosi to say that she wouldn't humiliate him again.

Is there at least ONE person in the Democratic congressional leadership who isn't emulating Don Knotts?
