Graham, Lieberman and McCain call for more troops in Afghanistan
Source: The Hill

Three prominent Senate voices on foreign relations are now calling on the Obama administration to heighten its commitment -- and its troop deployments -- to the war-torn state of Afghanistan.

In the op-ed, published in The Wall Street Journal on Sunday evening, Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) ask the White House to consider a "significant increase in U.S. forces" in the struggling state, asserting that any other course of action would be a "guarantee of failure."

"The growing calls for withdrawal reflect, more than anything, our failure to show progress in the war," the senators wrote. "After eight years of fighting, the American people see rising casualties and no sign that the tide is turning in our direction."

But, they added: "We have reached a seminal moment in our struggle against violent Islamist extremism, and we must commit the 'decisive force' that Gen. (Stanley) McChrystal tells us carries the least risk of failure."

6. Not Surprised
That Lieberman is amongst the kill the Muslims bunch.

Seriously folks, who doesn't see the fallacy of escalation. We escalated once, and here we are again, like in Vietnam, with more casualties. And for what? Pipeline routes?

2. The Hill has cut its proofreading positions. None of them belong to the Foreign Relation Committee.

but to the Armed Services Committee.

As for these three, no surprise there. I am more curious to see how the Dems on this committee feel.

5. Yeah, these are three guys I want to take advice from.
Didn't they all lose Presidential elections? McCain ran for President, Lieberman for Veep, and Graham would have been McCain's First Lady.

Ouch. I deserved that.

8. doesn't that mean we should do the opposite?
Every single one of these people has been wrong on every single aspect of these wars we're in - I say we should listen to them and then do the exact opposite. If not perfect, I'm sure that it would be better than anything they suggest.

9. No to more troops

The surge did nothing to make Iraq into a stable Democracy or damage Al Qeada. A surge would not fix Afghanistan. A withdrawal is what I support.

10. Nothing learned from the Viet Nam War by Republicans
Obviously the Republicans learned nothing from the Viet Nam war (technically not a war, but a police action).

A military cannot fight an ideology with guns and bombs. All they are doing now is creating more enemies by their actions in countries that do not want us involved there.

The only ones winning these 2 wars are the corporations such as Halliburton.

Cheney is laughing all the way to the bank.

16. "No" is a powerful word ...
especially when attached to another powerful word, "money".

There are far better ways to spend the money.

17. I know three troops I'd like to see go in
and their families. If they find it is safe, maybe some other wingers can volunteer like Hannity, Savage, Michael Reagan and old drugRush.
