Congress approves Bogden to return to job as Nevada U.S. attorney

Hours after Nevada U.S. Attorney Greg Brower announced he will resign his post on Oct. 10, the U.S. Senate confirmed Dan Bogden to take his old job back as Nevada’s chief federal prosecutor.



Bogden, who in recent years has been a partner with the Reno law firm of McDonald, Carano and Wilson, was one of eight U.S. attorneys fired in December 2006 as part of a controversial purge that led to congressional investigations and the resignation of former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.


Sen. Harry Reid, who had recommended Bogden to President Obama, said he was pleased Bogden was reassigned to the position.


“Dan is an experienced prosecutor who worked hard for Nevada before being wrongly fired,” Reid said in a statement. “During his first term as U.S. attorney, Dan was fired for refusing to bow to political pressure.
