NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (CNN) -- A Yale University lab technician was arrested Thursday in the slaying of a graduate student whose body was found in the basement wall of an off-campus medical research building, police said.

Raymond Clark was apprehended about 8:10 a.m. ET at a Super 8 motel in Cromwell, Connecticut, where he had spent the night after being released Wednesday following his submission to DNA testing.

Annie Le's body was found in the basement wall of an off-campus medical research building Sunday. She had been strangled.

Le, 24, a pharmacology student, was last seen alive September 8, the day she appeared in a surveillance video entering a four-story lab at 10 Amistad St., about 10 blocks from the main campus.

How could they test the DNA this fast? Did they find something else? What details do we know??? If he is guilty, I think it would be because it was sexual (she was quite pretty), or maybe she caught him doing something wrong in the lab (like sleeping, or making a bomb, etc??). Does ANYBODY know anything at this point??

Maybe he is innocent but he's done a pretty good job of playing a guy with something to hide since he first came up as a potential suspect.

10. This was a very secure building where they had to use passes

to get into different areas and rooms of the building. According to the swipes on her security pass, the last place Annie Le went to was the basement, where her body was found and where the accused worked. They narrowed down the suspect list by the security passes that both of them used. Plus, he texted her that morning and asked her to meet him to discuss her research animals.

In high school, Raymond Clark III pitched for the baseball team, made the honor roll and joined the Asian Awareness Club. Friends and acquaintances from high school described him as personable — certainly not likely to be a killer.

But DNA tests linking Clark, 24, to the murder of Annie Le MED ’13 place him at the center of a brutal homicide investigation. Clark’s arrest is expected this morning — ten days after Le was last seen entering the research facility where her body was found last Sunday, stuffed behind a wall in the basement.

Law enforcement officials named Clark a “person of interest” in the case Tuesday night, when police served one warrant to search his Middletown, Conn., residence and another warrant to take DNA samples from his body. A neighbor at Clark’s Middletown apartment complex, who declined to give her name but said she was a high school student, said Clark had lived on the first floor of 40 Ferry St. for five months with his fiancée, Jennifer Hromadka, who is also an animal lab technician at Yale.

“I once bummed a cigarette off of him,” the neighbor said. “He didn’t look like the kind of guy who would (kill someone).”

Another neighbor, Sana Cotten, said Clark was not well-known in the apartment complex but that neighbors were surprised to see him under police surveillance Monday and Tuesday.

“He was a nice guy,” Cotten said. “Nothing alarming, nothing that would make you say, ‘He’s kind of weird.’ ”

Cheryl Preneta, who lived on the same street as Clark and took the bus to school with him when the two were children, said she dropped the television remote in her hand when she heard the name of a fellow Branford High School graduate on television Tuesday night. Preneta and other Branford High friends then took to Facebook to discuss the news.

“All of us can’t believe that he was questioned,” she said in a phone interview Tuesday. “But we’re just waiting to see if the evidence points to him or not, and we’re all just hoping it doesn’t.”

I don't think it's a coincidence that she died right before her wedding. My guess is that he worshiped her from afar, didn't approach her because she was engaged, and as the day drew near, panicked at the thought of marriage taking any chance of his winning her (either symbolically or literally). So he made one last-ditch effort to win her over, and when he was rejected...

while i don't doubt a woman cowoker not being cowed by his bullying would piss him off even more tahan a dude would... i don't think that the evidence shows that a crush or attempted rape (as common as rape is as a prelude to killing a woman) have anything to do with this crime.

let me put it this ways for you, if she had been your fiance or daughter how'd you feel if the reporting used romantic terms like unrequited love , crush, and spurned and love the ilk to describe emotions felt by the man who strangled your loved one?
wouldn't that repulse or anger you? even if she had been raped why do they use cutesy grade school words like crush to describe a murderer? it's not cute, and there are no excuses. i know it;s human natire to look for a reason, but why try to explain it a if she was a party to any of it.
