Bill O'Reilly Backs Public Option (and there's video)
Source: Huffington Post

... O'REILLY: The public option now is done. We discussed this, it's not going to happen. But you say that this little marketplace that they're going to set up, whereby the federal government would subsidize insurance for some Americans, that is, in your opinion, a public option?

OWCHARENKO: Well, it has massive new federal regulation. So you don't necessarily need a public option if the federal government is going to control and regulate the type of health insurance that Americans can buy.

O'REILLY: But you know, I want that, Ms. Owcharenko. I want that. I want, not for personally for me, but for working Americans, to have a option, that if they don't like their health insurance, if it's too expensive, they can't afford it, if the government can cobble together a cheaper insurance policy that gives the same benefits, I see that as a plus for the folks.

But if we can get O'Reilly onboard for "a public option," we might get "single payer," if we try a little bit.

9. It is a mistake to lump O'Reilly in with the likes of Hannity and beck.
He doesn't seem to be a "classic" right-winger. Oh, he's partisan enough, liberals are "pinheads", etc., but I find myself agreeing with him on 40-50% of his remarks, much higher than any other Fox "News" face besides possibly Shep Smith.

I'm not crazy about BillO, but if Fox "News" had more O'Reillys and fewer becks we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today.

I honestly believe that o'lielly is trying like hell to marginalize beck into irrelevance.

50. Agree. O'Reilly's ego is severely bruised by all the attention Beck's been getting.
HE wants to be the voice of the little people. Beck is a usurper. I don't know if his ratings have fallen, but O'Reilly knows he hasn't been the biggest darling at Fox News recently. A little (seeming) contrariness will put the spotlight back on him. He knows he can always talk his way out of anyone pointing out his inconsistency. That's what cutting off mics is for.

13. BILL O'Reilly Back Public Optioon: NOT A JOKE
Source: Huffington Post

The Huffington Post is reporting and has linked to viedo of Bill'O Endorsing the Public option saying it isn't a matter of "left or right."

"Bombastic Fox News host Bill O'Reilly made a rather notable policy pronouncement on Wednesday's show: he supports the creation of a government-managed health care plan if it provides working Americans with an affordable option to other private insurance plans.
In other words, he supports the public option now being hotly debated in Congress."

38. never see his real side
We will never see his real side, I think Fox controls him. He actually has a really anti bussiness stance and has been interested in a public option before, I notice when he says something liberal, he stops. I think Fox News keeps him in "check". If he was more moderate and took on his own network, he could become the next Walter. No BS, No Bias, just facts and independent. Too bad it would have been great.

48. I'm with you here, altho my optimistic side wants to believe it's true.
Not that I think he has fundamentally changed; just that he has accepted a certain amount of reality. However, we'll see if he REALLY means it when, if the government public option is enacted, he champions actually FUNDING it properly. I don't want him coming back after pubs have slashed its funding, saying "Ya see! I KNEW government health care doesn't WORK!"

52. My thought also
The Catholic church has a long history of caring for the poor sick with it's hospital system. How long can he go against the teachings of his church.

Also, a public option, or single payer is pro-business and very pro small business....that is all business except the health care business.

55. Republican Half Measures
They rail against half a phrase, suggesting that the oppressive government will force everyone to adopt a Public health system.

They wilfully ignore the fact that the latter half of the phrase is the word, 'option.'

Whenever you're faced with any ignorant right wing spittle spray about socialist takeover of the health 'industry,' just quietly chant the following mantra, as if you're a member of the Nichiren sect:

'Option. Option. Option. Option...'

Then ask them why they hate freedom.
