$10,000 Sanction Proposed Against “Birther” Lawyer(Orly Taitz)
Source: WBRL.com

Federal Judge Clay Land may have made good on his threat of sanctions against a lawyer for an army officer fighting deployment on the claim that President Barack Obama was not born in this country. In an order today Judge Land denied a motion for a Stay of Deployment for Captain Connie Rhodes, filed by Attorney Orly Taitz yesterday. The motion was filed after Judge Land threatened sanctions and dismissed the complaint calling it frivolous. Taitz has 14 days to show why a $10,000 penalty as a sanction should not be imposed against her. We tried reaching Taitz. She has not returned our calls.

In a bizarre twist, News 3 has received a copy of a letter to Judge Clay Land, written by the officer in this case, Captain Connie Rhodes. In it she writes she is shipping out to Iraq and asks the Judge to withdraw the Motion to Stay the Deployment. She denies authorizing Taitz to file on her behalf.

1. That disbarrment cannot happen soon enough!
That's an astonishing announcement by the Captain.

I wonder what happened, or who got to her.

Did she finally see the insanity of her ways?

10. What's funny is, her career is toast now, even if she backs down
and behaves herself. The military never forgives and never forgets this crap. It will be on her biannual review, and those follow you everywhere.

No promotions in the future for the good doctor.

27. She doesn't care about her military career
That's clear from the fact she filed this suit in the first place. She got what she wanted from the military: they paid for her last 2 years of med school and living expenses through internship and residency. She does her time and leaves. Then she gets to make millions a year as a private practice surgeon.

2. Not long, I imagine
Edited on Fri Sep-18-09 05:50 PM by Warpy
She could have been the poster girl for an immigrant rags to riches story, a plucky gal who arrived here, learned English, worked hard, and became a lawyer, even though she doesn't have the pedigree of a good school.

Instead she became a drama queen feeding off the most witless crowd on the extreme right wing fringe, spiraling into lunacy and destroying herself.

This is the stuff of Shakespearean tragedy.

Somebody wrote an opera, "The Death of Klinghoffer." I think "Orly" will follow some years down the line.

13. The OTHER case filed...
Orly Taitz wss bragging about the '30 days to get Obama out of office' regarding another case that was filed in California.
The trial will begin January 26th in front of Judge David O'Carter.
O'Carter is the judge that has approved the order for Obama to produce his documents.

Taitz is as big of a nut as Bachmann, Beck, Palin, and the rest of 'em.

19. It's not up to the defendant to prove or disprove.
Oily needs to prove her case.

Problem is, Hawaii is indeed part of the United States of America.

Oily loses. (More than just her mind, that is.)

25. I found it. Geez. Heres the real deal ...
In case SACV 09-0082 DOC ( ANx)Captain Pamela Barnett, et al v. Barak Obama, et al
on Sept 17, 2009

Judge Connor issued a minute order and STAYED ALL discovery in the case pending
resolution of Defendant's motion to dismiss.

Also a tentative trial date has been set for January 2010, so presumably this will be
decided before then. A scheduling conference is set for Oct 5.

CLAIMS THAT CARTER HAS ORDERED DISCOVERY (AS CLAIMED BY TAITZ IN A VIDEO WE ALL WATCHED),
THE CLAIM IS COMPLETELY FALSE AND BOGUS. NO DISCOVERY HAS BEEN ORDERED. ALL DISCOVERY HAS
BEEN STAYED UNTIL FURTHER ORDER OF THE COURT.

Taitz seems completely unhinged to to claim discover was ordered and she might get obama
out "within 30 days". The only thing happening within 30 days is she's going to have to
come up with $10K in sanctions (which must be reported to the CA State Bar, who could
take further action).

8. FReepers sure the judge is a crook or worse. Stay safe, Judge Land.
The FReepers are using their massive brains and profound knowledge of Constitutional law to condemn Judge Land.

To be fair, there are a few over there who are washing their hands of that lunatic Orly Taitz. Most, though, support her against the "Kenyan."

11. I have mixed emotions about her
On one hand, you can't ask for better right-wing crazy than Orly Taitz. She can be a "cup of goodness" that keeps on giving. The more she speaks, the more her birther bat shit crazy rants are boardcast of TV and put in print, the better off we are. She does more to make the Representatives and Senators that have given credence to this nonsense look like they are as bat-shit crazy as she is than anything we could possible say or do to prove it. Speak my sister, SPEAK!!
But...on the other hand, this lady is seriously mentally ill and needs professional help. Its like the person standing on the sidewalk, raving on an on to a person that isn't there. At some point you need to show a little humanity and take them aside, calm them and give them a nice cup of tea and let them relax until the nice people can come take them to a special place where they can be with their friends and get some help.

The liberal in me can't stand her, the human in me feels sorry for her.

20. Most excellent post.
I so agree with you, it's hard to to a humane person and watch Taitz further disintegrate in public, without wanting help for her. She is mentally unstable; that's as obvious as anything can be.

In all, it's a sad tragedy.

I recommend that everyone read both the judge's order from today, and the letter to him from Capt, Rhodes. What theater!

Apparently, not only did Taitz file another frivolous document with the court right after being threatened with sanctions if she were to do so, she decided it would be a good idea to accuse the judge himself of TREASON within that document!!! :wow: The judge mentions that twice. ;)

Also, Capt. Rhodes said in her letter to the judge that she would be filing a complaint against Taitz, and described Taitz'a actions as "reprehensible" and "unprofessional," and severed all ties with her.

I can't believe that the only penalty for accusing a judge of treason (and also his court system of "subservience" to an "illegitimate, de facto President" -- her words in the document she filed) is a monetary one. I'm surprised the judge didn't also impose some sort of contempt charge with jail time (if he had that option, which I don't know, since I'm not an attorney. But it seems like he SHOULD have that option!).

Anyway, wow... just, wow.

(Edited to fix punctuation error.)

She's wasting the resources of our court system with her frivolous lawsuits. Really. If Obama were not a US citizen you think the McCain/Palin freaks or Hillary and company would have missed that opportunity? Why don't we deport that stupid bitch back to Moldova or Israel?
