Minn.'s Pawlenty forming PAC; possible 2012 step

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is preparing to launch a national fundraising committee, yet another signal that he is positioning himself for a possible 2012 presidential run.

Pawlenty political adviser Alex Conant says the 'Freedom First' committee will be formalized in the next few weeks. He says it's a logical next step for the governor, who has been giving speeches and campaigning for Republicans around the country.

Web site addresses for the political action committee were registered last week.

Pawlenty has sidestepped questions about what he'll do after his term ends next year, and told the Star Tribune the committee is simply to help other federal candidates. But forming such a leadership committee is a typical step for people who aspire to higher office.

This sorry loser never got a majority in Minnesota and couldn't get elected again here. It's pretty amazing that he didn't get a majority with all the media, insurance companies and banks shilling for him, not to mention the big money from Texas. This guy is dumb as a rock and has left the state a total wreck. Kind of like an even dumber GWB. Low turnout in the core democratic districts let him get elected. last week he vowed to cut off ACORN funding when they get nothing from the state.

6. He's the best the Republicans have to offer, IMO, which isn't saying much

Huckabee and Palin (giggle) are jokes outside of fundie-ville and there is just something a little too android-like about Mitt Romney for most people. The Mormon thing doesn't help either.

But Pawlenty has considerable appeal to independents and moderates and he's working hard to growl and act tough for the right wing of the base. After a couple of years of growling, he may well have convinced enough fundies that they can feel comfortable with him. Then if he gets the nomination, he will promptly revert to being "reasonable, moderate" Tim again.

I'm not scared of the guy, but I wouldn't underestimate him either. He doesn't seem to have John McCain's unstable and slightly scary temperment.

Some here correctly said saint Rudy would lose the Republican nomination.Pawlenty could not win his
homestate against Obama.Well Romney may not eather although It depends which state he calls his home
