Palin Attacks Fed on Hong Kong Visit, Wants ‘Responsible China’
Source: Bloomberg

Sept. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin used her first trip to Asia to attack the Federal Reserve for creating asset bubbles and encouraging excessive risk-taking that hurt working-class Americans.

In a wide-ranging, 80-minute speech to fund managers in Hong Kong today, Palin spoke about issues ranging from Alaskan fishing to energy independence to U.S.-Sino ties. She repeated calls for “market-oriented” health-care reform and said governments shouldn’t regulate executive compensation.

The Fed and the government sent a message to companies that “the bigger that you are, the more problems that you get yourself into, the more likely the government is to bail you out,” Palin said in the closed door speech, according to a tape of the event given to Bloomberg News. “Of course the little guys are left out then. We’re left holding the bag, all the moms and pops all over America.”

The speech was Palin’s first major public appearance since quitting as Alaska governor on July 26, less than a year after she ran with John McCain in an unsuccessful campaign against now-President Barack Obama. People at the event said she focused on a wide range of global and domestic issues rather than her own political future.

2. I guarantee you...
...this woman WILL run for president again. She's just not dropping out of the limelight and I think there's a reason for that.

5. I think the reason is that the neo-pukes aren't satisfied with all the misery they've
brought to so many. They want to do it all over again.

10. I can't decide it that is good for the Democrats or bad
At the present, the lunatics of this nation are like a snowball rolling down hill. They keep growing in size.

But like all great snowballs they either hit bottom and break up or melt.

But she just is not going away.

19. The wingers have the next three years...
...to get crazier and crazier while Palin hones her image and "brushes up" on her reading. You are right, she is NOT going away. I've always thought that some DUers were being a bit too glib when they talked about her 15 minutes starting to run out after the election. After what I've seen during the first months of Obama's presidency, I'm not going to underestimate the desperate stupidity of the people who are likely to vote for her. Again.

4. I'm glad to see her speech is jargon-free. That makes it so much easier for her hosts to
understand her.

:sarcasm:

"little guys"
"holding the bag"
"mom and pops"

What an idiot.

6. Did she actually string two sentences together, or was her speech written by Kristol?

13. I want to know who really wrote that speech. And if you asked her to
speak in depth about what she said, could she? Better yet,
could she remember what she said in
the speech. She's a lot like Bush. I can't imagine he had
even a sliver of depth on what he said
in speeches.

7. I can't imagine listening to an 80-minute speech from her.
What could she possibly say to hold an audience that long?

9. She criticized America and its government in a speech on foreign soil.
That's always entertaining! Except when Democrats do it, of course. Then it's treason.

11. Can't believe she even knows
what the federal reserve is. Most have been translated from gibberish to Chinese by her handlers.

18. I Just Want To Know What Qualifies Her To Give Such A Speech........
She hasn't had experience on the world stage. If she could give such a speech - any American citizen is as qualified as her to give such a speech. I can't believe that people are paying to hear her speak. And 80 minutes at that. And the scary thing about this is that some people are actually taking her seriously. We're doomed - I tell you. We're doomed.

20. So Reagan-lover Palin is for limiting the size of companies?
Does anybody proofread what she's reading in these speeches for, say, a basic coherent thought process? Her pseudo-populism is nutbag insane, but what else should we expect, I guess?

21. but, Ms. Umbridge, it was laissez-faire policies that made the Fed encourage bubbles and risk-taking
it's the policies and ideology of Greenspan/Ayn Rand and Lyndon LaRonPaul that caused the mess: it's the free market that's the problem, since the bundled mortgages were put onto it--and, somehow, lost value...
the Fed is a symptom, not the cause: Canada, Brazil, Venezuela, Cuba have central banks--and they're doing pretty fine
