(Senate) Finance vote on public option delayed
Source: MSNBC

The Senate Finance Committee says the panel will not get to the matter of a public option debate today.

Democratic Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Chuck Schumer yesterday said they were planning to introduce amendments on the so-called public option, and they would take place today.

But committee sources say there is not time. The committee will work a shortened day today and not be in session Monday due to the Jewish holiday. Work will continue Tuesday.

Also, the Wyden-Bennett amendment has not been introduced to the committee. That amendment would permit those with employer-based insurance to choose from a variety of plans offered in an "insurance exchange" -- regardless of their employer's benefits.

1. Anyone know about Wyden amendment. Schultz concerned it was states controlled, limited on public
option as we think of it. Not open as a non-profit, but could it be more a co-op idea that Wyden liked in the beginning, but calling it public because more people can join?

3. I'd like to hear more about it, too, because that is a concern for people who
do like their employer plans (my niece is afraid her employer will pull all offerings to save money thereby forcing everyone into the public pool). On the surface it sounds good, but if Shumer doesn't like it, I think that tells me what I need to know.

5. Hey now
Let's not blame poor Baucus, he works damned hard for the people that bribed him to kill any public plan for health insurance. What do you expect him to do? Vote with what the people want?
