FBI closes Danziger Bridge to search for evidence
Source: AP

(AP) — NEW ORLEANS - FBI agents have been scouring the Danziger Bridge as a federal investigation continues into police shootings of several civilians there four years ago.

The FBI closed down the bridge for several hours Saturday while agents looked for evidence. Members of the local FBI office's Evidence Response Team Unit could be seen working on the eastern end of the span over the Industrial Canal.

FBI spokeswoman Sheila Thorne confirmed that the team was examining the bridge as part of the federal civil rights investigation into the shootings. She declined to say more.

1. A little late aren't they?
This happened 4 years ago. If the police had injured or killed a rich fat, balding white man, I wonder how long it would have taken to investigate.

2. What usable evidence could there be now?
After four years on a heavily traveled public bridge, that crime scene is totally contaminated. And numerous rains, street sweeper trucks, traffic, & maintenance workers have long since removed any shell casings or other evidence.

This is nothing more than a show.

3. bullet casings
don't deteriorate like trash. They stick around for a LONG TIME. All one has to do is roll into a crevice. Also, you need to go to the scene in order to figure out angles, trajectory, etc. Sometimes you can tell who's telling the truth based on who gets the details right.

6. Concrete doesn't easily deteriorate

If there were evidence of bullet holes in the concrete footings -on the Algiers side-or, on the bridge spans, that could be significant.

4. day late...dollar short.
four years to clean up the evidence, by the perps, is, I'd say more than ample.

7. They can't ever get rid of all of it, and most perps do not know what is possible
so they do not know what to obscure. They would not close the bridge unless they thought there was something there they could find.
