Bachmann to raise funds for controversial Christian punk ministry
Source: Minnesota Independent

Rep. Michele Bachmann will be headlining a fundraiser in November for controversial ministry You Can Run But You Cannot Hide (YCRBYCH).

Based in Annandale, Minn., the group has made a name for itself as an anti-drug Christian punk rock band that organizes motivational student assemblies to bring Christ to public schools. But over the last several years, parents and school administrators have complained that the ministry misrepresents itself, claiming that the group is not transparent about its Christian mission. And since schools pay using public funds, some are concerned that the group is violating the constitutional principle of the separation of church and state.

Bachmann will be the keynote speaker at a fundraiser for the group on Nov. 12 at a Bloomington hotel. Bachmann’s office did not return a request seeking comment about the event.

It won’t be Bachmann’s first time at a YCRBYCH fundraiser. At a Minneapolis hotel in October 2006, she offered a powerful prayer for the ministry and praised the group’s work of sharing the gospel in public schools.

1. "Christian punk ministry"
Exhibit #1 in the case of "Reality vs. Not Getting It".

"And since schools pay using public funds..."

Bachmann's constituents must be complete suckers for punishment.

5. Poseurs.
Back during my punky days (late 70s/early 80s) we were as suspicious and spiteful of organized religion as we were of any other despotic regime, perhaps moreso. These douchebags are just dressing up in costume to seem "hip" in order to evangelize to schoolkids (and violate the Constitution, to boot).

Heck, just the fact that they would willingly accept the assistance and approval of Dingleberry Bachmann shows that they are sleazy idiots.

with their jive turkey "sweater-vests" and their cool-dude "little boy" haircuts.

Jesus fuck they are painful in their attempts to seem relevant and "cool". Obama is the epitome of cool. He's a black dude, he plays basketball, looks awesome in shades, and he's President.

9. The End (Times) Justifies the Means...
There are all sorts of christian music now (no pun intended since one of their most well known album series is called "NOW"). The RW use all sorts of music that they perceive as being popular with the dumb kids these days. These include christian rock, christian rap, christian r & b, and so on. The appeal-to-the-market capitalists in them must have figured that the traditional church services were too stuffy for the hip youths, so this serves better as RECRUITMENT TOOLS!

29. Don't laugh
I've heard of people claiming to be Christian pagans. As far as I can tell, what they mean is that when doing a ritual they call on Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary and other Christian constructs.

Video at Media Matters:

Bachmann:

Does that mean that someone's 13 year-old daughter could walk into a sex clinic, have a pregnancy test done, be taken away to the local Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, have their abortion, be back and go home on the school bus that night? Mom and dad are never the wiser.

Say, what? Please define "powerful prayer."

Is that what passes for news reporting at the Minnesota Independent?

37. Bachmann’s "powerful prayer"...
“Lord, I thank you for what you have done at this ministry… how you are going to advance them from 260 schools a year, Lord, to 2,600 schools a year,” she said. “Lord, we ask thy faith that you would expand this ministry beyond anything the originators of this ministry could begin to think or imagine. Lord, the day is at hand! We are in the last days! The day is at hand, Lord, when your return will become nigh. Pour a double blessing, Lord, a triple blessing on this ministry.”
