UPDATE 1-McClatchy quarterly ad revenue falls, profit rises

* Third-quarter net EPS 28 cents

* Q3 ad revenue down 28 pct, Q4 print ad revenue to fall

* Q3 online ad revenue is 17.6 pct of total ad revenue

* Shares fall 11.7 percent in premarket trading

NEW YORK, Oct 15 (Reuters) - McClatchy Co (MNI.N) reported a quarterly profit on Thursday because of cost cuts, while advertising revenue at the U.S. newspaper publisher dropped 28 percent and likely will fall again before the end of the year.
