CNN Poll: GOP favorable rating lowest in 25 years
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican Party's favorable rating among Americans is at lowest level in at least a quarter century, according to a new national poll.

Thirty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they have a favorable opinion of the Republican Party, with 54 percent viewing the GOP negatively.

According to the poll, 53 percent have a positive opinion of the Democratic Party, with 41 percent holding an unfavorable view. The survey indicates that favorable ratings for the Democrats have dropped 5 points since February, with the Republican number slipping 3 points.

"The Republican party may still be battling the legacy left to them by George W. Bush," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "They have also spent a lot of time in 2009 working against Democratic proposals. That hasn't left them a lot of time so far this year to present a positive, post-Bush message. Of course, there is still plenty of time for them to do so before the 2010 midterms."

Nearly seven in ten people questioned say they disapprove of how Congress is handling its job, with 29 percent saying they approve. That's a drop of 6 points in the approval since April.

4. The Republicans are a Failed Party...
Edited on Fri Oct-23-09 11:09 AM by Steerpike
The philosophy of the conservatives apparently cannot be implemented.

1. Even when they control the body politic taxes and fees go up for the majority of the electorate
2. Under their administration's government expands
3. Individual rights are always marginalized
4. Investments become primary way to earn a good living...not the "sweat of your brow"
5. too many perverts

They talk the talk...but don't walk the walk...apparently it is impossible for them to implement their own philosophies!

14. But the very lowest numbers are those of Republicans in Congress. So, no bright side.

11. Still way too high.
As to the "positive, post-Bush message," I suggest that they copy the advertisements highlighted in the movie "The Invention of Lying" -- particularly the Coca Cola ad. ;-)

12. To paraphrase W. H. Vanstone:
The GOP right now is like a swimming pool, in which all the noise comes from the shallow end.

(Vanstone originally said it about the Anglican church, but I think the analogy applies.)

17. Well deserved.
They have allowed the inmates to take over the asylum. Rush,Glenn, Sean and Cheney speak for the party and the rest of them have just shut up and let them. And they are speaking to nobody but their own little corner of America. Everyone else is wise to them.

I put Rush on this morning and laughed so loud I scared the cat! In his alice-through-the-looking-glass world, the "Democrat Party" is the regional party, Obama is an arrogant, self-absorbed narcissist, a liar, and above all, a failure!

Just reverse everything and you come close to the real reality: the Repub party is the regional one, and Obama is a humble, honest public servant who is succeeding.
