Bin Laden 'seen in Afghanistan in early 2009'
Source: BBC

By Orla Guerin
BBC News, Islamabad

A Taliban detainee in Pakistan claims to have information about Osama Bin Laden's whereabouts in January or February of this year.

His claims cannot be verified, but a leading American expert says his account should be investigated.

The detainee claims to have met Osama Bin Laden numerous times before 9/11.

He claims that in January or February he met a trusted contact who had seen Bin Laden about 15 to 20 days earlier in Afghanistan.

13. Ben who? You mean the Saudi playboy?
Why are we talking about him when the real problem is the corruption of our economic system by the borrowed spending on wars on civilians who don't like us going to their villages, bombing their homes and sometimes raping their women?
The brainwashing is totally unfair to the soldiers and their families.
Since there is no obvious logic, there is only one explanation: MONEY

9. Wealthy Bush family associate somehow can't afford a $30 webcam...
to document his numerous "appearances".

What's sad is that there are some people in this country who actually believe this bullshit.

3. Another Bush tactic, dead man used to scare Americans into more war

Osama bin Laden is dead. The news first came from sources in Afghanistan and Pakistan almost six months ago: the fugitive died in December <2001> and was buried in the mountains of southeast Afghanistan. Pakistan's president, Pervez Musharraf, echoed the information. The remnants of Osama's gang, however, have mostly stayed silent, either to keep Osama's ghost alive or because they have no means of communication.

My question, who is getting the BBC to put out the Osama's a threat crap again? Bush & Cheney used him to scare us into being good little puppies and go along with the war machine.

So who in the White House is using W's tactics????

Or am I in some parallel universe and Bush is still in office???????

5. "he met a trusted contact who had seen Bin Laden"
So, I ran into this guy who knows a guy who thinks this guy he works with may have seen Bin Laden at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN getting treatment for his kidney disease only the guy didn't have beard, but he's really tall.

Makes sense, because if Bin Laden is still alive he must have access to medical care and a lot of Saudis go to Mayo.

The "trsusted" contact was able to identify the suspect as Osama because he was very tall and towing a kidney dialysis machine behind him.

16. Remember 'Curve Ball', our Iraqi source that said Saddam had WMD?
Key Judgments (from October 2002 NIE)

Iraq's Continuing Programs for Weapons of Mass Destruction

We assess that Baghdad has begun renewed production of mustard, sarin, GF (cyclosarin), and VX; its capability probably is more limited now than it was at the time of the Gulf war, although VX production and agent storage life probably have been improved.

• An array of clandestine reporting reveals that Baghdad has procured covertly the types and quantities of chemicals and equipment sufficient to allow limited CW agent production hidden within Iraq’s legitimate chemical industry.

• Although we have little specific information on Iraq’s CW stockpile, Saddam probably has stocked at least 100 metric tons (MT) and possibly as much as 500 MT of CW agents — much of it added in the last year.

• The Iraqis have experience in manufacturing CW bombs, artillery rockets, and projectiles. We assess that that they possess CW bulk fills for SRBM warheads, including for a limited number of covertly stored Scuds, possibly a few with extended ranges.

We judge that all key aspects — R&D, production, and weaponization — of Iraq’s offensive BW program are active and that most elements are larger and more advanced than they were before the Gulf war.

• We judge Iraq has some lethal and incapacitating BW agents and is capable of quickly producing and weaponizing a variety of such agents, including anthrax, for delivery by bombs, missiles, aerial sprayers, and covert operatives. {p.3}

– Chances are even that smallpox is part of Iraq’s offensive BW program.

– Baghdad probably has developed genetically engineered BW agents.

• Baghdad has established a large-scale, redundant, and concealed BW agent production capability.

– Baghdad has mobile facilities for producing bacterial and toxin BW agents; these facilities can evade detection and are highly survivable. Within three to six months * these units probably could produce an amount of agent equal to the total that Iraq produced in the years prior to the Gulf war.

"Curve Ball" is revealed. Greencards for War!

By John Amato Sunday Nov 04, 2007 3:30p

Rafid Ahmed Alwan defected from Iraq in 1999, claiming that he had worked as a chemical engineer at a plant that manufactured mobile biological weapon laboratories as part of an Iraqi weapons of mass destruction program. Alwan's allegations were subsequently shown to be false by the Iraq Survey Group's final report published in 2004.

23. An unnamed PAKISTANI claims that an unnamed contact of an unnamed TALIBAN detainee
Edited on Mon Dec-07-09 05:34 AM by No Elephants
recently saw OBL looking "fresh" in Afghanistan, while the detainee's Pakistani "interrogator" listened as the unnamed detainee allegedly told this tale. (Pakistan, of course, being the country to which many people say we should be deploying now, instead of surging in Afghanistan).

Hey, who am I to question?

Does the BBC have any standards at all for what qualifies as an actual new story worthy of being circulated to the public? How times have changed since The President's Men, when the then editor of WAPO supposedly put Woodward and Bernstein through hoops before agreeing to publish Deep Throat's story.

To paraphrase the Bible: He who has a brain, let him think.
