2. No, that doesn't make sense |

Because that is not why we are sending troops. We are surging troops in an attempt to build and consolidate Pakistani force structure. Whether or not that takes place, Obama made a big break in established past and current policy by establishing a time table. I feel lucky that Admiral Mike Mullen is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs versus that patsy Richard Meyer, who was a non thinking voice box for whatever was asked. If you want to deny that al-Qaeda is a global security threat, you are being naive. If we leave a broken security structure when we leave, we can expect greater obstacles and attacks at a later date. Radical jihadist Muslims are not going to give up, and we can see evidence of the ongoing threat world wide. For a terrific understanding of our national security breakdown pre-9/11, read the Looming Tower. If you want information about the current threat, it will not be gained through observation of the media, nor by diplomats. You might want to check out, "Seeds of Terror" by Gretchen Peters. Anyway, if you think that security is a meaningless call for troops or assistance, it's meaningful to bear in mind the farmers whom are forced to produce opium b the Taliban, and by refusing get killed, maimed, or watch same happen to family members.

3. Right. We're going to build Pakistani force structure by deploying to Afghanistan. |

4. What do you think we've been doing? |
|
We have been training Pakistani security forces for years. There is a reason its called AfPak policy. Would it hurt to read up on the subject before making snide and ill informed comments? It is the border region that is the biggest challenge, and the security of Pakistani nukes. It almost sounds as if you're not aware that the two nations border each other. Or stay uninformed and pat yourself on the back for your witticisms, either one is fine.
