Reid: 'Very dramatic' Obama to GOP: Stop scaring U.S.
Source: Politico

President Barack Obama told congressional Republicans to stop painting such a dire picture of the U.S. economy in a White House meeting Wednesday, according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.)

"One of the things he told my Republican friends there," Reid said, was: "Stop trying to frighten the American people. Things are not bad."

Obama then pulled out a chart to prove his point, a move Reid called: "very dramatic."

Speaking with reporters outside the White House following a bipartisan meeting with the president to discuss job creation, Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said the talks were productive. Pelosi called it a "very encouraging meeting," and Reid praised Obama for listening "to every one of us."

3. Obama is never going to "get it."
While everyone agrees an Obama presidency is a "step up" from the bush nightmare (a low bar, indeed,) it's going to be a long three more years before we have a chance to put someone in the white house who is actually up to the job.

7. If Obama is replaced, it will be by a Rethug, not a more liberal Democrat.
And the independents who decide elections are already starting to move toward Palin.

12. Agree on your first point, not on your second
Independents still thinks she's just dumb as we do. If I'm Obama, I would love to see Sarah Palin run in 2012.

14. Say What...???
I believe the polls are showing that STUPID independents
are starting to move from Obama...

Hopefully, there aren't THAT many stupid independents...

As a matter of fact, stupid independents aren't the ones we have to worry about....

Only INSANE independents would vote for Palin...!!!

LOL..!!!

:)

15. It is discouraging, but the typical voter isn't very intelligent or well-informed
and independent voters' preferences shift with the winds.

Give those two facts, it's not surprising to see voters moving from Obama to Palin, as crazy as it at first appears.

17. that's because "Independents" are often wingnuts who left the republicon party
they now call themselves "Independent" because the RW nutbags in congress aren't birthery and secessiony enough for them

20. The birthers didn't vote for Obama. It's other Independents who are
moving to the Palin column; the birthers were already there.

16. That's both incorrect and ridiculous. Palin will never hold another elected public office.

5. I think Obama is just trying to keep us cool, like he always is.
He knows the psychology and the reality of economics work play off of each other. But I wish he had come out with a jobs plan months ago.

6. As opposed to Paul Volcker...
His economic adviser?

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/banking_and_finance/article6949387.ece

One of the most senior figures in the financial world surprised a conference of high-level bankers yesterday when he criticised them for failing to grasp the magnitude of the financial crisis and belittled their suggested reforms.

21. Volcker was talking about the financial crisis and banking
regulation, not really specifically about the economy as a whole.

22. Excuse Me?
Is Obama talking to real people any? How about real econmists, not the captured pawns of Wall Street?

It is that bad, and it's getting worse, and Obama and Co. have done nothing, NOTHING, to stop the decline or start to fix the economy so that it begins to function again.

US GDP was tanking at -6.4% in January - it is gowing now at +2.4% (3rd quarter)

Thanks to Obama's economic policies.

Unemployment has peaked and wlll decline in 2010.

All leading economic indicators point toward continued improvement.

Sorry to burst yer DOOM bubble
