AP-GfK Poll: Gains for Obama, not his Afghan plans (56%+)

The latest Associated Press-Gfk poll shows the president's popularity holding steady, with 56 percent of those polled approving of the way he's taking care of the country's business. His marks for handling the 8-year-old war in Afghanistan have jumped by double digits, with more than half now approving, since he capped a three-month strategy review by announcing a big troop increase.

as the economy recovers and healthcare is settled.

4. Agree with that

Most of "Main Street" isn't following the health care goings-on like we are, so that isn't shaping their opinion. They're looking at the economy, and with most of those people having a relatively short memory they are now forgetting how the economy got into the mess that it's in. It is improving, and in another 6 months to a year the jobs numbers should really start picking up. That's what people are watching.
