Test of newest U.S. missile defense technology will simulate attack by Iran
Source: CNN.com

Washington (CNN) -- The U.S. military's Missile Defense Agency will practice protecting the United States from a simulated Iranian missile attack next month in an exercise using the agency's newest missile-killing technology, Pentagon officials said Friday.

At the same time, the agency will be testing its new "Capability-2" technology, with upgraded software and sensors loaded inside an interceptor missile that will be fired at the fake Iranian missile.

The Capability-2 technology is designed to eventually replace the existing hardware the United States has in its two missile defense bases in California and Alaska, according to Rick Lehner, a spokesman for the Missile Defense Agency.

Iran doesn't have a missile capable of reaching the US. A Ballistic missile coming from the Marshall Islands is not going to have the same trajectory as a mythical missile from Iran, but the defense industry is going to try to whip up support for it's money pit by invoking the bogey man.

This crap needs to be defunded.

6. We just have to keep the enemies coming, even if we make them up.
What if simulated an economy with all our enemies participating fairly with us and putting away the guns and bombs? Maybe the results might give convincing evidence that no nation need be at war with another. I know if Russia had simulated it prospects accurately they would not hav been a military-industrial nation.

7. Anybody here old enough to remember the Cold War? ....
Our whole nuke policy was based on "massive retaliation" and "Mutual Assured Destruction".
We have boomer subs, tactical missiles, cruise missiles, ICBMs, MRBMs... shit, we probably have nuclear hand grenades.
According to our whole nuclear policy, should Iran be so foolish as to attack the US with a missile or two, their country would be turned into finely ground rubble.

When the fuck is this country going to get over the psychotic need for boogeymen?

Bigmack

You still have ICBMS, MRBMS, Tactical missiles, Cruise Missiles, Boomer's, and attack subs with the capability to lunch nuclear weapon at all time... At the moment the US alone have maybe 4-5 Boomer's just in the Atlantic ocean alone, and you also have the british and the french with their nuclear weapons on board the subs they have (smaller forces, but at least as good as the americans) And then we have some russians there too, but they are out there mostly to tell they are still in the game...

And under the cold war, you did had nuclear handgranats, even tho they never was been used (thankfully) but US did have warheads who could fit into a haubitzer and could be used at the war-field...

I doubt that US Will go over this psychotic need for bogeymen, because you doesn't earn money when you are friends... To me as an foreigner (who many claim doesn't understand americans at all) most of you are really easy to scare.. That be the indians, the communist, the blacks, the mexicans, the Latinos, well everyone else than yourself.. And now after the cold war, the americans have find old/new enemies, now it is Iran, next it is Pakistan or China (The peoples republic of China) and so on..

That even that Iran at best is a decade away of having a ICBM capable force.. Even with the help of others - like Pakistan and North-Korea or maybe the russians and china it Will take a decade or 15 year for Iran to have an capability like an ICBM.. It is NOT easy to build and to make a ICBM fly.. The US would try to go back to their roots, where the one system after another was blowing up on missile pads.. And where the military forces who was testing out the different missiles mostly noted failure the first decade of trying to building even a short range missile.. It was first after the russians was lunching Sputnik 1 in 1957 that the US really used a lot of resources to build missiles.. And even then it took long time before the new weapons was there... And Iran have to true the same problems that US had in their days.. In fact even if they sceated they might have a lot of problems in their design and a lot of blown up missiles will be the answer...

12.  Missile tests
are great when you plan and know exactly where and when they are coming from. I'd like to see one from a random location and time.
