Barack and Michelle Obama get vaccinated against A/H1N1 virus
Source: RIA Novosti

U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle got vaccinated from the A/H1N1 virus.

"People need to understand that this vaccine is safe," Obama was quoted as saying on the official White House website. "Michelle and I just got the shots ourselves... we wanted to make sure nationwide that children were getting it before adults did. And now there's enough vaccine so that adults should get it as well."

The U.S. president said children must be a priority for getting A/H1N1 shots and his two daughters got vaccinated in October.

1. Why'd he wait so long?
I got mine two weeks ago (the day after they started do non "priority" vaccinations around here.)

2. I think different state health departments are determining if supplies are enough.
In Illinois I remember hearing about it being available for everybody the Thursday before last, and got it the next day. But the announcement was made by the Illinois health department.

3. If he got it too early, it would look like exploitation of privilege.
"Waiting in line" like the rest of us sends a better message... pregnant women and kids first, once that rush has died down, healthy adults come next.

15. Yes, but if the president gets sick the costs for the country are substantially higher.
He got it after I did; I'm not remotely important...

5. Well, you'd hope that they did.
Whatever else you can say about them, it would be a good thing if they didn't die.

Most countries do try to keep their heads of state or heads of government alive, from what I've seen. At least the ones you'd WANT to live in, anyway.

18. I second that a second time, and deplore this publicity press release.
If they choose to get the vaccine, fine, but they're only tarnishing themselves by turning it into a publicity opportunity to benefit the pharmaceutical industry.

Will they be sending press releases every time they get a prescription filled?

10. There isn't a chanc ein hell that the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES was allowed to wait this long
that is most likely saline.
Additionally i seriously doubt that he got the same stock that everyone else is getting.

I'm not paranoid, honest, but seriously... does anyone here seriously think he only just got vaccinated? with all the traveling he's been doing?

11. Seems normal to me.
President gets vaccinated, recommends to the rest of us.

Seems totally normal.

There's an element of DU that is starting to bother me. Seriously.

SO think before you post. We voted this man in, and he deserves a chance.

Seriously.

19. LOL, well played.
Mind control chips would have been a bit over the top, but specious autism claims is enough to make one pause and giggle.
