‘No idea why’ bomb suspect quit Dubai college
Source: The National

A Nigerian man accused of attempting to blow up a jetliner over the United States on Christmas Day had recently been enrolled at the Dubai branch of a prominent Australian university.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, started at the University of Wollongong in Dubai in January but left in July, for unknown reasons, said Mohamed Khalifa, vice president of academics at the university.

“We have no idea why he left,” Mr Khalifa told The National yesterday. “He did not complete any degree with us and he is no longer a student with us.”

A current student at the Wollongong satellite campus said he recalled encountering Mr Abdulmutallab during the previous school year in a game of pick-up basketball on a court at The Lakes in Dubai. “He was a decent basketball player,” said Mohammed Marzouqi, 22, from Algeria.

Located in Dubai Knowledge Village, University of Wollongong’s satellite campus is a privately funded institution founded in 1993 that offers more than a dozen business-related undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Mr Khalifa declined to identify Mr Abdulmutallab’s course work or activities at the university, citing “student privacy protocol”.

But news organisations, including The Wall Street Journal, reported that he had been enrolled in a master’s course at the university, which instructs approximately 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students from 108 countries...

1. So he must have air travel and credit card trails to tell where he went next.
NO one's expenses are secret these days. The FBI can get
access, and the CIA, I am sure.

Wonder who put him up to it.

So young. And Nigerian.

Our leaders have allowed very bad things to happen to the
Nigerians, ya know.

Can we have some press on all things Nigerian?
To try to understand why there is so much TERRORISM?

And why our leaders need to be afraid.

They have been bullying lots of people in many countries in
our name,
and using our dollars to save their asses. We are invested in
security industries so they can avoid their having to
pay-back.

This sucks. To say the least.

If you were king, or judge, or God....what would you do to fix
it?

How can we keep the young from being willing to suicide in
order to attempt to change the horrors?
Duh? This is not fucking rocket science. They will continue
to die until we change and they will take
us with them as much as is possible... we must stop what we
have been doing and must admit and then clean
up our damage and begin the healing of the world.

We must. We have no choice. Except SECURITY (fascism).
Please, gag me already with a spoon. Didn't we do that
already?
Don't we have laws that state this cannot happen anymore? Who
declared them dormant? Arrest those people and put those
regulations back already.

Come on, boyz... you had your thirty years.

Give it up.

3. This boy hasn't a clue to horror.
He's rich, privileged, given everything without ever having to work for it. And he still wasn't happy.

You propose that we change everything about our lives so that a spoiled rich kid won't try to kill us? Like that billionaire brat Bin Ladin? ARE YOU KIDDING???

The change I propose is to make damn sure NOBODY gets to be that rich.

4. Rich or poor! The principled are not prejudiced. We changed our lives drastically to make room and
to justify a security industry that is wreaking more havok on
our lives than any terrorists!

Can the security industry, build trust. Use our negotiations
skills and laws to get us out of this mess.
Stop the killing and the justification for killing.

I doubt this young man was willing to give up his rich life
out of boredom. No, he hates us.

Tell me who doesn't?

5. He hates himself. He wants himself dead. He has no friends.
I'm not impressed by his tantrums. But you and the security industry are. Almost equally, in fact.
