Saudi, Norway gov'ts give to Clinton
Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) - Foreign countries including Saudi Arabia and Norway gave millions of dollars to former President Bill Clinton's charity as Hillary Rodham Clinton served her first year as President Barack Obama's secretary of state.

A donor list released on New Year's Day by the William J. Clinton Foundation shows that Saudi Arabia and Norway each donated somewhere between $10 million to $25 million to the former president's charity.

The biggest donors included the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which gave more than $25 million.

The Clintons agreed to annually disclose the names of donors to the former president's foundation to address concerns about potential conflicts of interest between his fundraising abroad and his wife's role in helping direct administration foreign policy.

I'm sure this is all above board, but to me it just doesn't feel right.

12. Clinton hatred at DU, as usual. Obama will be just as hated if not more in seven years.
That's DU for you.

2. His charity should have suspended operations with Hillary serving as SOS
Im sure there are sufficient charities with overlapping programs that could do the work Bill's charity does.

7. I would hate to see a foundation that does so much be suspended
for any length of time. As long as they are willing to disclose their donor list, I'm fine with that. IIRC, disclosure was one of the things that was addressed when SOS Clinton was facing confirmation hearings.

8. I believe some people think it would give the Saudis or other governments
who donate some sort of influence over SOS Clinton.

10. What in the hell is wrong with giving to a charity
If Bill Clinton has the charisma to get large donations for this charity why in the world would people be upset about it. Are right wingers mad cause these people don't give to their re-elections campaigns.

11. because its easier to blame bill for the saudi influence in american politics
rather than have a difficult decision about cutting down our consumption of oil.

13. There's an obvious conflict of interest here.
But what part of our government doesn't have one.

16. It's not like they're giving it to Clinton or some PAC.
They're giving it to CHARITY. It goes to people who need it to better their lives as well as their communities.
