Karzai in Helmand, rockets land nearby-witness

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, (Reuters) - Explosions were heard within several hundred metres of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, when he was visiting southern Helmand province, a Reuters witness said.

Karzai was addressing an indoor gathering of around 500 people when two explosions, which the witness identified as rockets, were heard nearby.

A villager from Bulan, several hundred metres away, told Reuters that two rockets had landed there but no one had been hurt or killed.
