All travellers from Nigeria, Yemen, Pakistan, Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria flying into the United States will be patted down and have carry-on luggage searched under new security procedures starting January 4, Politico reported on Sunday.

7. NPR did a piece on it some time back...

the folks that deliver food to the planes and many others do not go through routine screening programs.... Those bottled beverages in the concourse are not screened, yet remain the only "acceptable" fluids one can bring on a plane.... Lots of weaknesses if that reporting is correct.

14. I'm hoping that rail travel makes a come back.

If they ever modernize rail travel in this country like they have in Europe I will travel by rail. It is much more relaxing and pleasurable. I've heard that Warren Buffet recently bought up a bunch of rail stock with the express idea of rekindling rail travel. I have great memories of rail travel when I was a kid. I'd love to do it again.
