Meehan's strong fundraising start in Pa. 7th

It’s looking increasingly likely that Rep. Joe Sestak’s decision to run for the Senate is making his House seat a major political battleground — one Republicans are aggressively contesting.

Former U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan, the leading Republican looking to succeed Sestak, announced that he raised an eye-popping $580,000 for the race over the past three months. Since he entered the race in September, he’s raised more than $790,000.

That’s likely to land him among the top House fundraisers for the latest quarter, from October to December.

State Rep. Bryan Lentz, an Iraq war veteran, is looking like the favorite for the Democratic nomination. He got off to a strong fundraising start, raising $220,000 in the third quarter, but hasn’t released his latest figures yet.
