No More Guantanamo Detainees Sent to Yemen for Now, Gibbs Says
Source: Bloomberg

By John McCormick

Jan. 5 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama’s top spokesman said the U.S. will suspend transfers of Guantanamo terrorist suspect to Yemen.

Yemen is “not capable of handling” them now, Robert Gibbs told reporters at a briefing. “Right now, any additional transfers to Yemen is not a good idea.”

Gibbs said inmates slated to go to Yemen from the U.S. prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, could be moved to an Illinois prison in the wake of the Dec. 25 attempt to bomb a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight.

If the prisoners are still denied trials and only moved?
If they are brought onto American soil..does that mean we will finally see the civilian courts investigating things?

2. Don't the men have a right to Habeus Corpus if held by civilians on US soil?
The purpose as far as the DoD is concerned is strictly propanda, imo.

3. I believe so..but with all the signing statements of Bush and Obama...
and the Patriot act..who knows for sure? Not me.
I would hope that they do. I for one would like to know why they are in prison and what has been happening to them.

4. Courts investigate?
Prosecutors present, defending attorneys defend, judges referee and juries (unless trial by jury is waived) judge.

Referring requires little investigation, judging none at all. Prosecutors and defenders do the heavy lifting.
