Hazardous Substance Prompts Closure Of California Airport
Source: MyStateLine

(Bakersfield, CA) -- Authorities in Bakersfield, California are testing a substance found in a piece of checked luggage that sent two airport security officers to the hospital.

The incident also prompted the closure of Meadows Field Airport.

Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Suzanne Trevino told reporters it appeared to be a hazardous materials issue and was not terrorist related.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Department, testing was underway to identify the substance that sickened the TSA screeners.

Both are said to be recovering after being treated for nausea at a hospital.

The owner of the bag was taken into custody for questioning.

5. So why did the TSA guys get nauseated by honey?
"When TSA agents opened one of the bottles and tested the contents, the resulting fumes nauseated them, Youngblood said. Both were treated and released at a local hospital."
