Al Qaeda chief captured in Yemen

Yemeni police have arrested a key Al Qaeda chief believed to be behind threats that saw several foreign embassies in the capital Sanaa close their doors, police say.

Mohammed al-Hanq had evaded arrest on Monday during a security force raid in Arhab, 40 kilometres north of Sanaa, in which two of his relatives were killed and three other people wounded.

"Mohammed al-Hanq and two others who were wounded were captured in a hospital in Amran," province north of Sanaa, a security official said.

The US embassy, which had closed for two days due to security concerns over an Al Qaeda threat against foreign interests, cited "successful" security operations north of the capital as it reopened for business on Tuesday.

A tribal source requesting anonymity said security forces hunting suspected Al-Qaeda member Mohammed al-Hanq clashed on Monday with his bodyguards near Arhab, 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of Sanaa.

Two of Hanq's company, his son and his nephew, were killed and three others were wounded in the firefight, while he managed to escape, the source added.

Obama's counter-terrorism adviser John Brennan warned on Sunday of possible attacks by Al-Qaeda in Yemen.

"There are indications that Al-Qaeda is planning to carry out an attack against (a) target inside of Sanaa, possibly our embassy," he said.

3. Actually, they are usually called second in command
I've always thought that must be the suckiest Al Queda job, kind of like being an Admiral in Darth Vader's military.

7. They blame him for things like
having the Yemeni AQ chapter steal Yemeni munitions from Yemenis in Yemen?

I must have missed that. I was fairly sure that we ridiculed the Yemeni government and blamed the Yemeni chapter of AQ for that.

Oh, wait. Surely you're not saying that Obama is either responsible for the Yemeni government or the Yemeni AQ chapter who nicked the weapons?
