TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras -- U.S. State Department diplomat Craig Kelly returned to Honduras on Tuesday to make his fourth attempt in five months to reunite leaders in this bitterly divided nation.

U.S. Embassy spokesman Michael Stevens said Kelly "came to make intensive effort to achieve a breakthrough agreement" during a two-day visit.

Kelly met with ousted President Manuel Zelaya at the Brazilian Embassy, where he has been living since sneaking back into Honduras in late September.

Kelly also plans to meet with interim President Roberto Micheletti, who took power after Zelaya was ousted in June and is to cede his position in three weeks, and with the winner of the country's Nov. 29 presidential election, Porfirio Lobo.

2. The real motivating factor for this effort...
is that most of Latin America won't recognize this US backed military regime.

7. Which is pretty ridiculous when you think about it.
After all, many of these Latin American leaders regularly talk about how the will of the people should be respected by foreign forces, yet when the Honduran Congress voted against reinstating Zelaya, they're on the sidelines, throwing a fit, attempting to tell Hondurans how to run their affairs.

8. As if the military couldn't have driven him out in a truck?
Keep in mind that the military was carrying out the orders of the Court, not acting on their own in an illegal fashion.

11. It was a base on Honduran soil
Do you really believe that we ask to see ID of everyone on every Honduran military plane that lands on our bases in THEIR COUNTRY?

12. There is no way he went through that base without our knowledge.
Honduras is our landing strip. Nothing happens there without a green light from the US.

14. Not direct proof, of course not. But a context builds up over time.
Negroponte is an adviser to Hillary Clinton.

Negroponte meets with Micheletti before the coup.

The plane fueled up at our base.

The administration never pulls the funds to Honduras as it's required to do by US law.

The Pentagon never stops training Honduran officers at the SOA.

Clinton and her subordinates are publicly insulting of Zelaya.

The US is the only nation that recognizes and PRAISES a patently illegal election.

Now the Honduran generals who kidnapped Zelaya are up on charges. Wouldn't you be concerned, if you ran that American base, that you'd been party to a crime under US law, Honduran law AND international law? Unless you weren't concerned, I guess.
