AP: 2 ex-Blackwater (Xe) Guards Charged With Murder

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Two former Blackwater contractors have been arrested on murder charges in the killings of two Afghans last year.

An indictment obtained by The Associated Press charges 27-year-old Justin Cannon and 29-year-old Chris Drotleff with second-degree murder, attempted murder and weapons charges. Both of them are in custody.

Both Cannon, of Corpus Christi, Texas., and Drotleff, of Virginia Beach, Va., have said in recent interviews with the AP that they were justified when they opened fire on a threatening vehicle last year. Blackwater, now known as Xe, fired both men after the shooting for failing to comply with the terms of their contract.

The indictment says the shooting at a Kabul intersection killed two men.

3. Remember to take their statements with a promise of immunity....
and then base your case exclusively on those statements.

That way, a judge will dismiss the charges and everyone will be happy.

5. I don't think that will happen this time. The bush White House can't
order their prosecutors to take a dive.
