Source: Morningstar

Emerging Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (Pinksheets: EHSI). With the President, Congress and the American People intently focused on healthcare initiatives over the last nine months, the stock market has positively responded through the same period with steady gains of over 200%. The NYSE Healthcare Sector Index® (INDEXNYSE: NYP.ID) cleared 6,500 today, closing at a 52-week high of 6,551.69. This represents gains of more than 200% above the index low of 2,060.29 in March of 2009, which was just before the US healthcare initiatives were undertaken.

As healthcare gains a central focus of Americans, including the aging Baby Boomer Generation, Emerging Healthcare Solutions builds on solid industry experience, cutting edge business tactics and strategic partnerships to take advantage by identifying and investing in breakthrough technologies that offer the hope of attaining positive and better outcomes for patients while containing costs.

Congress is expected to pass a trillion-dollar health care measure in the short term. Some of the largest players in the industry are Pfizer, Inc. (NYSE: PFE), Eli Lilly & Co. (NYSE: LLY), Medtronic (NYSE: MDT) and Haemonetics (NYSE: HAE). All are expected to see expanded revenue under the national health plan currently working through Congress.

About Emerging Healthcare Solutions, Inc.

1. If the bill passes, they win. If it doesn't make it, they win.
It's a win-win situation.

4. knr. yep. I'd say "If it doesn't make it, they *still* win".
It's a lose/lose for the people until we get actual health care for all.

8. They win more if it makes it. With Boomers going on Medicare, they need the mandate.
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 02:42 PM by No Elephants
Make all those healthy young 'uns sign up year after year after year. Odds are few will need much health care for another 30 years or more.

That will more than make up for the disappearing boomers.

Bonus time!

2. They get a landslide if the bill passes, and they are seeing that it may well pass.
so now they make profits on top of profits, soon to make more profits on the dwindling middle class.

and who "our" elected officials are looking out for.

Can't wait to see what happens when they start working on Medicare and Social Security "reform" :sarcasm:

14. The last time I saw the Committee members of Baucus committee
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 02:56 PM by truedelphi
All of them Repugs that one day, discussing the health care reform, they said gleefully, (I will paraphrase) "This has been a difficult job, but now that we are done, don't we need to start in right away with Medicare and Social Security Reform?"

These shenanighans have changed the nature of the meaning of the word "reform."

So this policy will be the policy whose pain just keeps on a-coming.

11. Not to spoil a good hatefest here...
But the index was at 4,290 on March 9 (Look Here) -- which in addition to being "just before" the healthcare debate stated in Congress is also (coincidentally) the market bottom for the last year. So in rising to its current level of 6,598 (as of 1:45 cst), the sector index has gone up by about 150% -- which is pretty much the same as the broader market. As of 1:45 cst, the Dow was at 10,682 an increase of about 160% since March 9.

Facts are sucky....

15. Um, the DJIA is up about 63% from Mar. 9, 2009. Not 160%.
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 03:01 PM by Roland99
It was at 6,547 on Mar. 9, 2009. It's at 10,686 now.

A 150% increase would have the DJIA at 16,367.

17. My mistake
6547 x 163%. It's a 63% increase since March 9.

In any case, I don't know where Morningstar got its figure of 2K for the index on March 9. It just isn't so.

And as I've posted on several occasions during the past month, this index is not up any more sharply than the rest of the market.

20. I don't know....
At first I thought the article pulled out one part of the index, but I didn't see any mention of that. And really, once you start drilling down into a sector index, it loses its reason for being. You might as well just look at individual stocks.

28. But, if this bill were bad for the bloodsuckers, instead of the proles and the middle class
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 05:30 PM by ooglymoogly
the stocks would have gone down no matter what the rest of the market did. The indication by this rise (a rise that will continue to skyrocket) is that the bill overwhelmingly favors the bloodsuckers at the expense of the health of the citizenry; As if we needed that clear indicator to tell us that.

straw men are even more sucky

31. That index is flat compared to the DJIA over the last year, but that isn't exciting enough
to talk about I guess. Pretty much anytime since 2004, this index has at most been 10% above the DJIA. What an OUTRAGE!!! :eyes:

Don't get me wrong, HCR is weak ass shit, but so are most of the reactions here.
