NEW DELHI: The nation's third largest IT firm Wipro Technologies on Thursday said it has entered into a seven-year strategic agreement with the US-based insurance firm Main Street America Group for software solutions.

The Main Street will engage with Wipro for applications, development, maintenance and quality assurance, the Bangalore- based software firm said in a statement.

Under the terms of the agreement, Wipro will supplement Main Street's IT organisation in its endeavour to support its present and future business needs, the Indian company further said.

The Main Street provides commercial, personal and surety insurance products to individuals, families & small businesses in 24 states of the United States.

"As The Main Street America Group continues to increase scale and productivity, we need to implement more efficient processes while reducing our operation costs," Mains Street America's chief information officer (CIO) Ronald James said.

Wipro, however, did not disclose any financial detail of the deal.

7. Tech workers said nothing as our manufacturing jobs left, now it's our turn

It may seem like it's just the low level IT jobs that are farmed out, but that's how many IT professionals get their start. The IT industry is full of self-taught individuals who did not get a university degree and most of them wouldn't be there without a low level first job like support.

When we lose the 'crap' IT jobs, we lose training that doesn't requite tax breaks or stimulus funding.

long ago. I do my best to not purchase items that aren't made here in the US and I drive an American car.

Thanks for the broad brush smear.

On edit to add: It's not only the " low level IT jobs being farmed out."

10. your turn for what?
I'm in IT, and I supported the American workers when their jobs were leaving in droves. I buy US made products when they are still available, including autos. I come from a blue collar background and can relate to the perils both workforces have faced.

You are very misinformed if you believe only the "crap" IT jobs are the ones being offshored. Obviously you are very pissed off about something; but broad-brush blaming on tech workers not supporting the labor groups is foolish and flat out crap.
