Pistons' Stuckey suffers apparent seizure during Cavs game
Source: Detroit Free Press

CLEVELAND – Before a national TV audience, Detroit Pistons point guard Rodney Stuckey collapsed in front of the Pistons bench Friday night – one year and a few months after a similar incident.

During a time-out at the 2:30 mark of the third quarter of the Pistons’ 99-92 loss to the Cavs, Stuckey appeared to be trying to communicate with Pistons strength-and-conditioning coach Arnie Kander when he slumped over in Kander’s arms.

TV replays showed Stuckey, 23, shaking in what looked like a seizure. . .

I know, I know. Sports is not and has not been allowed on DU as a topic worth considering except as that relegated to the hinterland known as Sports. But this is a human being, and think a good thought for him and his family anyway.

1. Thanks for posting this
This shows the damage professional sports can inflict on a person, especially when players are expected to "shake it off" in terms of injuries and illness.

2. He's 23. Not sure you can attribute this to the game, but you're right.
He had another episode a year ago.

At 23, I wasn't much of an athlete, but I was Invincible. As you should be at 23. Something is very wrong here.

Thanks for your comment. I agree.

4. I agree
However Burch is right when it comes to that there is a stigma in sports on being injured. That is a good point even though it probably doesn't fit in this case and there are many clubs that do care for it's athletes. :)

3. This looks like a neurological issue...
Not sure you can attribute this to professional sports.

5. Some folks just have seizures. I was watching this game
at the gym and must have turned to CNN and missed it. Hope he gets it under control. Seems like I hear of athletes having these every now and then. But regular folks don't make the news, just jocks and rock stars.

6. Oh, bullshit
A lady had a seizure on the subway train I was on a few weeks ago. What bullshit manufactured reason do you suggest caused her seizure?

7. Really odd considering he did not lose consicousness
And his vital signs were ok. Hopefully it's just a case of dehydration and nothing seriously. He's got a lot of potential and it would terrible to see it wasted.

9. Could have been a petite mal sezure...
I had a friend that would get them. It would appear as if he would be nodding off, but he would sort of respond to me and my other friends.

I hope this player gets better.
