Karl Rove: I did not pull dirty tricks
Source: MSNBC

Karl Rove said his reputation as a down-and-dirty political campaigner is undeserved. Tricks attributed to him were
either media distortions or the work of others, he told TODAY’s Matt Lauer during an interview Monday on TODAY.

Rove specifically said he had nothing to do with the smear tactics used against Sen. John McCain in South Carolina
during the 2000 Republican presidential primary campaign.

snip

One of the more notorious dirty tricks of which Rove is accused is the so-called “push-pull poll” conducted in South Carolina
during the 2000 primaries, when George W. Bush and John McCain were vying for the Republican presidential nomination. The
poll suggested that McCain, who has an adopted daughter from Bangladesh, had fathered an illegitimate child with a black woman.

snip

“I thought John McCain would seize it for what it was, which was an enormous opportunity to give an insight into who he and his
wife are because Cindy McCain adopted a child from an orphanage in Bangladesh,” Rove told Lauer. “The story of this is an incredible
tale of love and compassion. But rather than doing that, John McCain said, ‘I’m a victim,’ and was angry and complained about it and
pointed the finger at Bush when he had no evidence whatsoever.”

Why isn't this man in prison?

Video if you can stand it @ the link.

So it was John McCain's fault that he didn't take advantage of the platform that
Rove gave him to address the rumors of his illegitimate black baby? Who knew?

one one more great quote

And Cindy McCain, the senator’s wife, said she would not stab Rove in the back if
he walked by her. “I would stab him in the front,” she reportedly said.

5. He's right!
One can hardly call murder and the subversion of democracy a "trick". A more apt definition would be an "orgy of evil". The word "trick" is merely the friendly remarketing of Karl Rove delivered by our highly corrupt mainstream media. Each and every network that allows this piece of shit to lie with impunity on air deserves all the scorn and ridicule that can be mustered by the general public. If a miracle occurs and Rove is actually exposed and prosecuted for his crimes, I hope folks are reminded of the on air blowjob Matt Lauer gave Karl Rove.

..... they will not say a God Damn thing about it. They also know that the phone
# for the Swift Boat Vets for Truth rang in the offices of Creative Response Concepts,
of Arlington, VA the same company that is behind the teabaggers against health
care reform, the same company the was on Rove's speed dial, and the same company
that hires former media people so they can specialize in "planting stories in the news
cycle using non-traditional methods.

6. What an opportunity! Just what every campaign wants - the candidate denying his adopted child was
his illegitimate kid.

Does this mean that he thinks he gave Senator Kerry a chance to more thoroughly defend that he was a decorated war hero, who saved a man and used his enormous problem solving skills to keep his men as safe as he could?

In both cases, the truth is, the goal was never to convince the majority of people of the lies, but to keep those campaigns from getting their message out on the real issues while they dealt with the lies and because they did, especially in Kerry's case, allow people to disbelieve the official record - when doing so fit their world view where being a strong, honorable hero was incompatible with being a MA liberal - even though it was the truth.

I'm not a huge Cindy McCain fan, but after reading that quote, she just elevated herself a notch in my book.

Larry Craig did not solicit. He was merely practicing for an audition with the Boise Civic Theatre's upcoming performance of 'George M.'
*
Wm Jefferson did not hide money in his freezer. He was merely storing it for the local Bingo Society until they decided where to invest it.
*
James O'keefe wasn't trying to bug Mary Landrieu. He was merely conducting a survey on what brands of ciggyrette her office staff smoked. Harmless.........

29. Darrell Worley is going to kick your ass, you know that
If you don't remember that on September 10, 2001, George W. Bush was about to be impeached by his own party for ineptitude, and on September 12 he was the greatest leader in the history of the world thanks to the American Kristallnacht, you really HAVE forgotten.

Read this: http://www.nps.gov/flni/upload/Design%20presentatioN2.pdf as they are attempting to build a 2200-acre memorial to Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. As there are only 640 acres in a square mile, the government plans to devote nearly 3.5 square miles to this memorial. Come on: set aside 100 acres next to Interstate 70, put a soaring tower and a visitor center there, use the rest for parking, and put a nice plaque at the actual crash site.

22. Doth he protest too much?
The one thing that kept Karl Rove secure was that he never defended himself and kept that cherubic smile pasted on his face. Now he's being defensive and that shows he's vulnerable to criticism or that he's worried.

I can only hope he's worried about something big that will affect his future.

bugging his candidate's own office and then calling

putting fliers under the window shield wipers of
church goers on Sunday before election in Texas
calling Ann Richards a lesbian alcoholic

getting an amazingly strong vote among the black
voters in St. Louis that put John Ashcroft over the
top in the Missouri Governor's race.

Making Dan Rather the problem instead of W's going
AWOL to avoid a piss test in the military

removing black voters from the rolls in Florida
and Ohio to make the election close enough to "flip"

Pushing that it was the State and Locals fault for
the poor response to Katrina even though the Governor
of Louisiana has declared the area a disaster 2 days
prior to the storm hitting which made the response
federalized

I could go on and on

30. What's Karl's angle?
Karl Rove has done shit Donald Segretti wouldn't have tried, and Segretti supposedly invented ratfucking. The question is, why is Rove suddenly attempting to get away from his past? I think it's most likely that he spent nine years of his life championing a president who's going to publish his memoirs as a pop-up book, and he's embarrassed by the knowledge.

56. "Why We Went In: Version 10.0" by P.J. Crowley | March 19, 2004 - dug up from the ol' memory hole
Edited on Tue Mar-09-10 10:09 PM by Bozita
Why We Went In: Version 10.0
By P.J. Crowley | March 19, 2004

In the year since the invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration has repeatedly shifted its justification for going to war and constantly changed its story on intelligence, the United Nations, reconstruction, political transition and the cost to the American taxpayer. More than anything, the administration's war in Iraq resembles a software program that, at first, works brilliantly, but then catches the user in a cycle of "fatal error" messages.

Here then, in Silicon Valley terms, is a review of the Bush administration's year in Iraq:

Version 1.0 - Saddam Hussein is an imminent threat

Version 1.01 - Saddam Hussein is a gathering threat

Version 1.02 - Saddam Hussein poses a real and dangerous threat

Version 1.1 - The smoking gun will be a mushroom cloud

Version 1.2 - We can't afford to wait

Version 1.3 - We never said imminent

Version 1.3.1 - OK, maybe we did say it once or twice

Version 1.4 - We should have been more precise

Version 2.1 - Saddam has weapons of mass destruction

Version 2.2 - Saddam has nuclear weapons

Version 2.3 - Saddam has biological agents he's never accounted for

Version 2.3.1 - The trailers are mobile labs for producing chemical weapons

Version 2.3.2 - Unmanned aircraft are ready to spread Saddam's biological weapons

Version 2.4 - Saddam's going to make more of all these weapons

Version 2.5 - We all know where the weapons are

Version 2.5.1 - Well, Saddam has used weapons of mass destruction

Version 2.5.2 - Iraq is a big country. We'll find the weapons eventually.

Version 2.5.3 - Saddam had weapons of mass destruction programs

Version 2.5.4 - Saddam had "weapons of mass destruction program related activities"

Version 2.5.5 - David Kay? Who's David Kay?

Version 2.6 - It's not about misleading the American people - Saddam Hussein is gone and that's the most important thing

Version 3.0 - We based our statements on our available intelligence

Version 3.1 - Saddam tried to buy uranium ore in Niger

Version 3.1.2 - Well, that was what the British told us

Version 3.1.3 - Did we tell you about Joe Wilson's wife?
