Ex-Christian Coalition head Ralph Reed won’t run for Congress
Source: Boston Herald

ATLANTA — Former Christian Coalition head Ralph Reed announced Wednesday that he has decided not to run for Congress in Georgia. Reed considered seeking the Republican nomination for Georgia’s 7th Congressional District northeast of Atlanta, but said Wednesday on the social networking site Twitter and his Web site that he won’t.

The boyish-looking 48-year-old was clobbered in his first bid for elected office in 2006. Facing questions about his ties to disgraced Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff, he was defeated by a little-known state senator in the race to become Georgia’s lieutenant governor.

He said in a letter to supporters Wednesday that he made the decision not to run for Congress after much thought and prayer. "I can best advance conservative principles by continuing to serve as CEO of Century Strategies, LLC, and founding chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition," he wrote.

Century Strategies is his public relations firm and the Faith and Freedom Coalition is a project aimed at using the economic crisis and new social media to bring a younger and more diverse audience into the GOP fold.

I called this one wrong. I was sure that he would run.

1. My guess is
this is one closet case with waaaaaaaay too many skeletons to keep hidden.

Of course he's not going to run for office.

3. Reedspeak interpreted
Reed wrote: "I can best advance conservative principles by continuing to serve as CEO of Century Strategies, LLC, and founding chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition."

Reed means: "I'm better off not being held accountable, but feel free to send more money to my sinecures."

4. Another interpretation:
Reed means: "If I run, it's possible that the media will notice the Gacy-like murdering streak that I have yet to complete..."

5. That was quick
I suppose he figured out that the Abramoff thing would stick, particularly since, given how unsavory Abramoff was, I'm sure Reed was in the thick of it, too--he knows how guilty he is.

6. If I'm not mistaken, financial scandals w/Reed go beyond...
Abramoff. The chains Reed drags around are ponderous indeed; his greed is legendary, he's into anything that money attached to it...:hi:
