Explosions across Afghanistan's Kandahar; 30 dead
Source: Reuters

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (Reuters) - Taliban suicide bombers struck across Afghanistan's southern city of Kandahar on Saturday, killing 30 people and wounding scores in a series of strikes the militants called a message to NATO.

The city is at the center of the Taliban's heartland and the next major target for NATO forces this year.

Officials said the biggest attack was aimed at the prison on the city's outskirts, apparently an attempt to repeat a jailbreak there two years ago.

Abdul Qayyum Pukhla, head of Kandahar's main hospital, said 27 dead and 52 wounded had been brought there, including police and civilians.

Provincial council chief Ahmad Wali Karzai, half-brother of President Hamid Karzai, told Reuters 30 people had been killed, many of them women and children at a wedding hall near one of the targets, the police chief's compound.

4. The latest excuse for this bloody war., is no excuse at all.
Why are our boys and girls dying,Where are the rich kids, where are the truth tellers, who are the profiteers, who are the people that support the murder of innocent people, have we no decency, when will the enlightened people of the world say enough is enough and bring justice to the war lords and greedy bastards that have taken over the planet?

5. No, they bombed a police station. The wedding was next door.
While the wedding goers are still dead, there is a difference between deliberately targeting them and being indifferent to collateral damage. Just ask those guys sending the NATO missiles down on various sites.

6. You don't think the Taliban are "indifferent to collateral damage"?
And that NATO deliberately targets civilians?
