McCain repulsed by health care bill ‘euphoria’
Source: MSNBC

WASHINGTON - Sen. John McCain said Monday morning that Democrats have not heard the last of the health care debate, and said he was repulsed by "all this euphoria going on."

Appearing on ABC's "Good Morning America," McCain, who was President Barack Obama's GOP rival in the 2008 presidential campaign, said that "outside the Beltway, the American people are very angry. They don't like it, and we're going to repeal this."

McCain, who is in a tough Republican primary fight in his home state, said the GOP "will challenge it every place we can," and said there will be reprisals at the polls, in Congress and in the courts.

On the cusp of succeeding where numerous past congresses and administrations have failed, jubilant House Democrats voted 219-212 to approve legislation that would extend coverage to 32 million uninsured Americans, reduce deficits and ban insurance company practices such as denying coverage to people with pre-existing medical conditions.

1. If I recall correctly John McCain also said on the campaign
trail that the economy is very robust and healthy...just before it took a major nosedive.

17. That was about the time of his freefall in the polls. He never recovered.
I love it when americans can actully see through the GOP's lies and reject them.

I think that's the GOP greatest fear or one of the greatest. that Americans will no longer buy their bullshit.

It can turn a man orange.

Paraphrase of the 1964 T.V. ad LBJ used against Goldwater. If McCain doesn't like his socialized policy, I'll take it.

35. Yeah, and if I recall correctly he said most Americans had about $250K extra cash laying
around, as well as, the economy was fundamentally sound. To me, McCain typifies the typical out of touch congressman living quite well at our expense. I don't like the F'er one bit. I'm also tired of him spouting his war record all of the time. A lot of people have made severe sacrifices in times of war, not just him. There are a lot of unsung heroes. He uses his as a campaign speech and it pisses me off each time I hear him.

41. He said the economy was fundamentally healthy AFTER it too a major nosedive.
Then, after everyone stopped laughing, he tried to backpedal to something about the American worker.

If he had said it before the economy took a nose dive, I might have overlooked it.

30. to sarge and RKP
Glad to see that being said. These people actually think we owe them 170K/year and pay for their health care. They get it as soon as they're sworn in and are exempt from any pre-condition limitations. Their part is about 30% of the bill. Yet they continually tell us it's bad for us. Don't know how they get away with their on constituents on this...well yeah I do.

32. And they really don't get called to task on it, vote in their own benefits, give themselves
yearly raises, live clearly a socialized welfare life, and they call the rest of the nation out on it... And I don't see how it ends. Frankly, we have a congressional welfare system. What a deal. I wish I was still getting pay and benefits from my first job in life that I held for two years.

37. I wasn't referring to his congressional goodies only.
He was the dependent child of a career naval officer, then a midshipman, career officer, military retiree. He's been on gravy train since he hit the air.

Being a military retiree myself at least I'm not begrudging anyone else their fair share. I want my country to be productive and happy which means it has to be healthy or did I miss something.

But I have read where McCain is drawing social security and disability because of what he suffered in VN. Together I think it comes to around 80K if memory serves. And of course his nice congressional salary. I don't begrudge any serviceman his due either but then the average soldier wouldn't say no to health care for everyone.

His retirement pay is for 20 plus years of active duty; his Tricare eligibility the same. Whether or not he makes use of it is neither here nor there.

As noted he really should STFU. He comes across as a cranky old fool with a dog in the manger 'tude.

Born in a Naval Hospital
Covered during his growing years under the Navy
Covered while in Annapolis
Covered while active Navy
Retired w/a VA disability
Covered in Congress

His entire life has been been supported by the Government, everything he has ever acquired, every paycheck, every benefit...has come from the government. He should burst into flames for the incredibly hypocritical stance he has taken...angry old man w/o a clue...

26. Bitter, bitter, bitter
That sums up McCain well.

Repukes are probably mad because they will have to shop on the exchanges like other people. That, plus wanting Obama to have a big defeat. I mean, it couldn't be the mandate they oppose - doesn't sound like them. And it's certainly not the bill not going far enough for them. So it must be the provisions that help people and even the playing field that they dislike.
